I deleted the connection information, but I was still getting the same error. I found here in the community that there is a CONNLOG.TXT file available from the Help→Contact Support→Log Files that was reporting on some missing TRNTYPE. I opened the .qfx file from Tangerine to find that it was there, but with a CRÉDIT value. I guessed that Quicken does not like accented characters when it parses the content so I changed my language to English on the Tangerine Web site, downloaded the file and then it worked…

I always forget how English speaking organization neglect the rest of the non-English world… a new recall.

Quicken was giving me:

“File selected does not have the required format.”

At first I assumed I had created the CSV incorrectly. I checked the required columns and created several versions of the file, but Quicken continued to reject it.

Then I discovered something interesting.

I went into:

File → File Import → Banking Transactions → From (.CSV) File

and used Create Sample File.

I then tried to import the sample file that Quicken itself had just created.

It rejected its own sample file with exactly the same error.

I was running Quicken Canada R67.8 (Build 27.1.67.8), and I subsequently updated Quicken to the latest available release. The problem remained.

The workaround

The Quicken sample file contained dates such as:

02/15/2026

which agree with Quicken's documentation specifying mm/dd/yyyy.

I changed the dates in the sample file to:

26/02/15

(yy/mm/dd)

and tried importing it again.

It worked!

I was then able to convert my actual Wise CSV transactions to the same date format and successfully import 166 transactions into my Quicken account.

So, at least on my Canadian installation, the CSV importer appears to reject the documented mm/dd/yyyy date format but accepts yy/mm/dd.

I thought I'd post this in case other Canadian Quicken users encounter the same “File selected does not have the required format” error.

Quicken's documentation says mm/dd/yyyy, but my installation would only accept yy/mm/dd.

Hopefully this helps someone else avoid the several hours of head-scratching that I went through! 😄

How do I get Quicken to show what the bank shows, $3096.59CDN come out of one account and $2226.00US into the other account?

I recently updated my Quicken program to Release R67.8 4/29/2026, and I no longer see or had the option to switch sales taxes for my quarterly GST and PST report. I went to Reports - Business - GST/PST Report. The reports runs and then I select my date range and then click on the cog (upper right) to customize my report. Under the advanced tab there is supposed to be a Sales Tax box with options for Tax1(GST) and Tax2 (PST).

After the update this disappeared (GONE), and there was no option to revert back to EARLY ACCESS (Edit - Preferences) which would have brought the reports back. I called and was told that I had to reinstall to version R65.20 Build 27.1.65.20 (December 2025) to get this option back and functioning. Am I missing something here? I need these reports to file my quarterly GST and PST amounts. Please help as for the time being I can no longer update my Quicken Program.

This is in response to the post by Amp61 on May 11, 2026, I don't know if this problem was solved as the discussion was closed without a clear answer, but there is a simple fix for this problem that has worked for me in the past. (Quicken Canada Windows Business &Personal R68.32)

Since it was clearly laid out with screenshots, I was able to duplicate the purchase of the exact fund mentioned in the post - PGF550 Pender Corp Bond fund. It's a problem that I have often encountered when buying and setting up a new mutual fund. In the "Edit Security" window, I changed the "Exchange" box from "Toronto" to "mutual fund" from the drop-down list. Quicken then downloaded accurate quotes for the fund.

Another strange quirk in Quicken is that mutual funds, even when recognized and quotes are downloaded by Quicken, will often only show about a month or so of price history. As strange as it may sound, what has worked for me is if I then change the "Exchange" selection in the "Edit Security" box to "US Stock". It then downloads at least 5 years of historical prices when I then select "Download Historical Prices" under "More" in the Security Details window for this specific mutual fund, as displayed below.

Vancity seems mystified about this and feel I am the only one having the trouble… All was fine until they decided to make the website better in Jan 2026. 8 months later and it still is inferior.

1st Dialog:

Before the upgrade, everything worked fine.

The only way I can use the "QFX" file now is to do the following:

File → File Import → Web Connect (QFX File) …

and then browse to the file that was downloaded to the "Downloads" folder.

Anyone else getting this?

Quicken Classic Business & Personal Ver R68.32 Build 27.1.68.32 Canada Edition

brings up the About Quicken window, BUT it also puts the app in a state that I have to END TASK in Task Manager. Quicken "beeps" when I try to click on the "X" to close the About Quicken window, leaving END TASK as the only way out.

For as long as I can remember, Quicken knew the stock market was closed on weekends and did not download prices and did not post a little clock indicating that a price had not been downloaded for weekends. This applied to Saturdays and Sundays only. It did not apply to holiday Mondays or any other holidays that fell between Monday and Friday (such as Good Friday, Christmas etc.)

However, for the weekend of August 1 and 2, 2026 every Security for every Account shows a little clock indicating that the price had not been downloaded on those days. This did not happen on August 8 and 9 and it did not happen on any of the July Saturdays or Sundays. I did not bother checking each weekend in January through June.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Is there as setting I can adjust to fix this? Is this a problem at Quicken's end that Quicken can fix?

I would appreciate it if Quicken could fix this. It would also be nice if Quicken could make it so prices did not download and no little clock appeared for days the market was closed (i.e. for the TSE on Canada Day or the NYSE and the NASDAQ for Independence Day and for all of the TSE, NASDAY and NYSE on Christmas, New Years Day and any other common holiday).

I made an Investment Performance - year to Date.

The balance showing in the Investment Column does not match the actual real balance of the account in the Quicken Investing view.

The more I look at various aspects of the Quicken software, the more dubious I am of its workings. And God know where AI will take us. I continue to monitor all using Excel spreadsheets and my actual account statements.

This is in reference to income and bill reminders that keep dropping off closer to the actually date. Can you please provide an update. I know others are still experiencing this same issue, but yet there is no fix or ETA of a fix - we have all been patiently waiting but now its getting tiresome.

With my CIBC investment accounts, the add accounts search doesn't find my investment accounts at all. My CIBC banking accounts are connected with no issues. However, the investment service through CIBC (called CIBC Investor's Edge) cannot be found.

I'd appreciate your advice!

I am looking for an update on the the issue of income and bill reminders that go missing as they get closer to the date. This has been going on for over 3 years now. I have reported it quicken and still no fix. Using quicken for windows home and business. Been a quicken customer for over 25 years.

the transaction exchange rate for each ledger entry in investment ledgers does not update without totally closing the program, starting it again, and doing an update and going to the report and unclicking transaction exchange rate AND changing the base currency to another currency then back again.

What is this mess? the exchange rate does not update after inputting the new transaction and doing a currency update, which should be instant. why do we have to waste time to close the program, open it again, run the report again clicking and unclicking until the exchange rate finally 'holds'?

Often, even doing all of the above it still shows 1.000 for the exchange rate for transactions. You have to do it repeated times, click on the ticker, I don't even know why it sometimes holds and sometimes not but it is such a waste of time every time it does this.

even more bizarre, sometimes some lots get updated with the exchange rate, and others show 1.000. even if entered exactly in the same way. this is really buggy software and for years nobody seeks to fix it? talk to your engineers, have them actually do something to make it work even at a basic level of functionality.
