Three individual securities that were sold do not reflect the actual cost under investment amount, so gains or losses aren't reflected. I have Charles Schwab & Co. set up to download the transactions to my Quicken Classic account. But these securities were purchased before they took over my TDAmeritrade account which could be part of the problem. How can I correct this.?

I've spent hours upon hours trying to figure out why Quicken didn't show correct returns on my investment accounts. It has been showing less than a half percent return when I knew that wasn't correct. I spent hours over the past few months looking through transactions trying to find why it wasn't correct. This morning I noticed the tab that allowed me to change from the default Portfolio Value to Performance and finally I saw a number that made sense.

I recently moved to a new financial advisor and know from the online tool my portfolio was up about 8% since moving in January of 2025. The first screen shot is the Portfolio Value which was what I've been looking at the last year and I knew was wrong. The second is the Portfolio view which is correct.

What is the difference between the 2?

(Quicken Classic Premier Version 8.4.2 (Build 804.59835.100), macOS 13.7.8)

The Securities section for Fidelity accounts only displays Cash after "update account" in Brokerage Account. All Funds/Securities have disappeared. The Roth IRA account is missing several funds while displaying most of them. The share price and share quantity are accurate for those that are displayed but the rest are just missing. I can't find any patterns as yet. External accounts seem to update fine. No errors are triggered when updating. I've Disconnected and Reconnected the accounts a couple of times to troubleshoot, to no avail. This began occurring about 22 Feb 2026.

Recently an ETF with the symbol PHB changed its symbol to IFLN and it changed the name of the ETF also. Can I just change both the name and symbol of the security and still retain the price history and lot history? Or should I record this as some kind of transaction?

One of my Chase investment accounts was setup for Detailed Transaction tracking. The account is managed my Chase so there are a lot of transactions. Unfortunately, after 7 years the balance online and the balance in my Investment Portfolio keeps getting further apart.

Over the years I've made comparison to the online Portfolio to assure share counts were the same, but after another period of time the value discrepancy just keeps expanding.

As a result, I decided to disconnect that account from Chase and re-add to Quicken but NOT with detailed transactions. This has been great to keep the value consistent between Quicken and Chase, but without transaction tracking my Cost Basis for this account is based ONLY on transactions from the last 3 months. Most of the investments do NOT have any cost basis because their shares were acquired prior to that 3 month cutoff.

I have looked at a number of different views for each security in the hope that one of them would allow me to update the Cost Basis, but so far no view has offered me that option.

Since the transaction tab is unavailable in this setup, I cannot even add any transactions that would allow me to generate a Cost Basis.

It's more important to me for the value of this Account be accurate so I am not going back to a detailed connection. However, it's really strange to see that my Gain/Loss percentage is over 2000%.

Anybody have a suggestion?

Hello fellow QM users,

I have an issue with one of my IRA's being out of balance. And to clarify out of balance - if I open portfolio view on this IRA, the balances for each equity reflect what is shown in Fidelity. If I look at the cash account balance (FDRXX), it is also the same as Fidelity. The issue is the overall balance for that IRA does not equal the balance in Fidelity. i.e., xxxIRA account balance at Fidelity = 100,000. Quicken account balance = 102,000. If I use the adjustment to account balance option, it then throws off the FDRXX balance.

This may or may not be related to a yet unresolved Quicken for Mac issue that had been raised back in Sept 2025 by several users and a confirmed issue by Quicken Alyssa. This issue has totally wiped out the functionality of the reconciliation option and must now conduct adjust account balance entries which only hits the FDRXX entry as the known issue takes the account balance to -0-.

Appreciate in advance any direction others may have.

Wyodad

Astrozenica recently went from Nasdaq to NYSE. Quicken seems to have put several entries under the category "Payment/Deposit" on my Schwab account. The result is I have two portfolio entries, one for the original astrozenica but with the new symbol. The other is the new symbol, but with a missing cost basis.

How is Quicken doing this without indicating some kind of corporate action or add/remove shares? What do I do to straighten this mess out?

Earlier this week, Quicken properly downloaded my Fidelity transaction in which I exchanged all shares of a mutual fund for another. The problem is that it lists both mutual funds in my portfolio and still lists the fund I no longer own as "Currently Held." Because Quicken is not removing the sold security, it is showing my account value as what it would be if I owned both securities.

I've never had this issue before and am trying to determine the problem. I tried to add a "Remove Shares" transaction as a workaround, and it still would not remove the security.

Here are screenshots of the transaction view and the portfolio view showing this issue.

I am using Quicken Classic for Mac Premier v 8.3.3. I have previously posted this question on January 4, 2026:

In the portfolio tab, after updating the account (a Fidelity account), all of my holdings are listed correctly except for one, which is missing. Fidelity has reported this position in the past and there is no reason I am aware of that Fidelity would stop the reporting. In an attempt to "force" the security to appear, I added the position in the transaction tab, but still the security does not appear in the portfolio.

So I wonder: Is there a setting in Quicken I might have inadvertently set that hides selected portfolio positions?

I've been using Quicken for Mac for a while now, and I have a number of suggestions for improvements:

1 - When I look at my investment accounts, if I have any cash in an account the cost basis vs market value is very misleading. My cash should have a cost basis of $1 per $1. Otherwise I have a cost basis way below the market value and it looks wrong.

2 - Why aren't there menu items and corresponding keyboard shortcuts to jump to specific views? Back when I was on quicken for windows, ctrl-U brought me to the investments view. With Quicken for Mac I have to click on the Investments item in the left nav and hope that I don't accidentally click on it twice (opening a secondary window). Having a keyboard shortcut would greatly improve this. Having keyboard shortcuts for key accounts would be helpful (command-1 for primary checking, command-2 for primary credit card, command-3 for investments, etc.)

3 - Quicken should have an "automatically add to Quicken" folder, similar to how iTunes allows you to drop mp3 files into a directory and have them auto-imported. If I download QFX or whatever files, I have to go into the Quicken app and use the File menu —> Import, like an animal. Please make it easier. It could check the folder once a minute, or only on startup… I don't care.

4 - I don't need so many pop-ups. Allow me to turn them off - "You are marking 3 transactions as cleared." I don't need to be prompted that repeatedly.

5 - Recurring bills needs a serious overhaul. I have 19 recurring bills (utilities, streaming services, etc.) and editing them is a major pain. The most used items in the "…" menu should be buttons instead of in a menu.

6 - Use a default business without prompting. I have a default business set. I have the business name hidden in my business credit card view because I have different cards for each business. Yet every time I enter a transaction it prompts me with "A default business will be used." Yes, obviously, that's why I set up a default business. I don't need to be reminded of that every single time.

7 - Calendar can only scroll through a month at a time? How about letting me go week by week, make the days taller so all transactions fit, etc. And why does it have both sides of a transaction on a given day - like for a credit card payment - I don't need to see both my checking account and the credit card's sides of the same transaction, pick one, or even better, show something like "Checking —> Chase" with the dollar amount.

8 - Have Payees and QuickFill Rules age out. I have like 3,891 Payees, if I haven't used them in a year they should go hidden. Same for QuickFill rules - I have 608, which is just too many.

These don't seem like huge lifts, please make Quicken more user friendly!

Thanks.

I have the same problem, Every day I update, I need to delete the phantom FACE positions, even though I have everything under META

I spoke to Schwab, and they pointed me back to Quicken.

I have tried moving the position to another account, and the problem follows.

Been a user since the DOS days, this is very frustrating. What is the timeframe for a fix ?

I have a 401k through Fidelity that contains accounts for both my previous employer and my current employer. (My previous employer account has a better fee structure, so I am letting it ride…) My new employer also allows a BrokerageLink option, which has both a Traditional and Roth offering. So, functionally, my single 401k account has four (4) "sub-accounts" that are individually tracked within Fidelity - Employer A, Employer B "Normal", Employer B "Brokerage Link Traditional", and Employer B "Brokerage Link Roth" - but are all rolled into a single "final answer" for reporting, statements, etc.

I have been manually checking all four Fidelity sub-account registers and making sure that I have all deposits and investments and reinvestments and brokerage fees (and, and, and…) properly captured in my single Quicken account, but it is easy to overlook individual line items in the single combined Quicken register - and therefore either to miss something or to enter it twice. (Then the reconciliation investigation starts…)

It would be really handy to be able to create four individual "sub-registers" or "sub-accounts" within the single 401k Quicken account in order to align with the four individual screens that I have to walk through on the Fidelity site. From what I can tell, this is not currently an offering within Quicken. Am I missing something simple? Or is this indeed a missing capability?

I am using Quicken Classic Deluxe, Version 8.3.3, on MacOS 15.6.1

From what I understand, I need to adjust each of the 18 lots I have of Unilever to reduce the cost basis. Because Quicken Mac doesn't have the same tools as Quicken Windows (10 years later), I'm led to believe these adjustments need to be done manually, but I don't see any action that does this.

How do I accomplish this?

Thank you.

I can't really figure out what to do with this one.
I have a 401K at Alight through my employer. This year, there was a change to force 401K "50+ catch up" contributions to a Roth account instead of traditional 401K.
I've now gotten my first paycheck of the year. The Quicken download automation shows contributions to my traditional 401K, no change. I checked the online account console, expecting that my HR hasn't made the change yet or something, but that's not the case. It shows contributions going to the same account, and there's notation that the catch up transaction is "Tax free Roth".
So it looks like this is being handled on their end as a mixed bucket, or in the alternative I guess you could think of it as sort of a sub-account. In either case the only thing I can think of to use to distinguish them is to manually tag the "Roth" one, and that still means I have one account containing two sets of funds subject to different taxation, and I don't think either Quicken or my brain is really set up for that situation.

Anyone else seen this? If so, any clever ideas? Or even bad ones?

Wouldn't it be cool to take a CSV and dump it into a Numbers spreadsheet template with automated quotes and various financial data already built in? Is that even possible?

I've copied & pasted Quicken portfolios directly into Numbers, skipping the CSV. Maybe it could be done that way, but wouldn't it over write the cell attributes & formulas? I'm not a maven when it comes to spreadsheets, and especially Numbers, but with some labor I find that I've been able to make some really useful, auto updating models and various other functional tables.

Importing CSV's from Quicken is relatively painless. I just discovered Quicken's "copy portfolio to clipboard" function, and that's also pretty cool. I've also taken articles with tables of equities in them such as one on Forbes.com on BDC's and one on precious metals and pasted them directly into Numbers, then automated them into faux watch lists with a start date and fixed initial cost based on a fixed date. For example, start with $10,000 worth of shares for each of 7-10 equities all beginning the same date. That way when I return to it over various intervals I can see an actual relative performance instead of just being a static watchlist. Obviously that's going to require some manual entry either way. That's fine. But the fixed formulas don't change and you have to recreate that every time.

I'm hoping there's a way to cut the labor down in this endeavor. Does anyone has any insights on this topic. Thoughts?

I have been a quicken user for years. I am getting very frustrated when I get new updates on my mac that don't include any new investment reports as the windows version has. When will this happen? Seems like if quicken respects and appreciates its Mac user base it would at least make efforts to incrementally release investment reports. Sure updating the Dashboards and graphs are nice but they are not reports where you can manipulate them. As a retired developer I realize you cannot achieve all updates at once, but you can incrementally! For now I guess I have to continue to export my data from quicken and import them into Numbers to create the reports I want. Is anyone at quicken even listening to its Mac users? Does anyone else have similar frustrations with managing investments on your Mac?

A Miscellaneous Expense seems to want to be associated with a Security. So, after a download, I am having to change the transaction type to Payment/Deposit and manually enter the Payee and Category.

If I look, using the register transaction inspector, I do see "ADVISOR FEE DEDUCTED Advisor Fee (Cash)" in the statement memo section. So the information does exist in the downloaded transaction information for Quicken to make the correct entry automatically.

My request is that Quicken properly enters the correct information in the first place. Failing that, allow the renaming rules to make use of any of the fields that can be seen in the transaction inspector. Failing that, allow the renaming rules to use a blank payee for the Statement Name in the renaming rules. Presently, this is not allowed - the error being "One or more tags required".

Until the change in download connectivity method last year, this was never an issue!

I have been using Quicken for Windows since 1998. I am currently exploring the Quicken for Mac to figure out if I will switch over from Quicken for Windows to Quicken for Mac.

I have a few accounts with Fidelity. After converting the Quicken file from Windows to Mac and with a lot of manual work to fix the numbers in Mac version, I finally got both Quicken for Mac and Quicken for Windows (Premier version) showing the same numbers. I did a one step update on both windows and mac version. For the Fidelity account, it downloaded the money market fund as Cash in the Windows version (and I am aware the CASH representation setting in Quicken for Windows); however, it downloaded the money market as SECURITY in the Mac version. I can't figure out where the Cash representation in Quicken for Mac is, or if there is one there.

Can someone help me? Thank you.

[Edited - Readability]
