Hi - I am not new to Quicken but just changed over to also using it for my business. I am using Quicken Classic, Business & Personal, Version 8.5.1, MacOS 26.4.

I just completed my first invoice and attempted to send it via the software. There was no indication that it was actually sent, and the client did not receive it.

Additionally, there appears to be no way to add additional recipients (I need to send to AP and cc managers for projects invoiced for approval), and no way to cc myself to ensure it was sent.

From reading these forms it looks like the "send" feature from the mac version is fairly new - but was it really released with so many issues??

Thans!

I've read some of the questions and answers about increasing the size of the fonts in Quicken. I found the option to increase the the font size in the register, which works great, but have not found an option to increase the account panel on the left. Some responses say to go to view and and select increase font size, but I do not have that option. I am up to date on the software so I'm wondering if there is a ticket open to increase those font sizes. I'm on a MAC and even if I go to my system preference and change the font size it still does not change the account panel in Quicken.

I have used Quicken for decades (now using Quicken Classic Deluxe 8.3.3) for all of the family's finances on my MacBook but my wife wants to use Quicken on her Mac to manage her mother's account using our subscription. Is there a page that tells me how to set this up? There would be no crossover between these accounts at all. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

So the highest I can set it is 99 days. I've tried using every 4 months but this causes issues when making the payment because the next payment might be a few days after it is really due and I need to go in and manually change it to avoid paying late.

Is there any way around this or a way to request that the field accept 3 digits?

I've been using Quicken since the 1990s and currently use Quicken 2015 on my Mac via Parallels. Every year I have to upgrade Parallels and since Quicken is the only app I use in Windows, I'm thinking that for $20 a year more I can use the subscription Quicken on my Mac directly and save 75GB of space that I'm now using for the Windows VM.

I don't use any of the online services, I do everything manually and have all the categories down to exactly what I want and need and the report I use at the end of the year.

Which is the simplest version I can use that lets me use my current 2015 file?

These screenshots show what I use and practically in the same order as soon as I open 2015

I'm reengaging with Quicken after a long hiatus, and I wasn't very good at using it in the first place. Yesterday I checked that all my balances were correct (hooray!) and then I did several hours of linking transactions across two accounts.

The program helpfully & regularly said "Hey! We've found a transaction that might be related, would you like to link?" and I said yes. I did some other random things, too, which I couldn't replicate, like changing the names of a lot of categories.

At the end of the day I discovered that one (only one) of my account balances was suddenly way off. I've added a huge adjustment, but I'd dearly love to figure out what I've done wrong. I don't have the foggiest idea where to start.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

[Edited - Readability]

I'm about to start helping my mom manage a property, and she tracks everything in Quicken Classic - Premier on her Mac at home. Currently everything is done via local files on her Mac, which she backs-up to a flash drive regularly. We want me to be able to access her files remotely (I live in a different city) - but I'm unsure what it would be like to move her files from local to the cloud: I don't know what our options are, I don't know how simple it is, I don't know costs, etc.
Can someone start pointing me in the right direction and make sure I'm doing the right things to inform both of us? (I'm relatively experienced with IT, just zero experience with Quicken.)

Thanks in advance for the help!

I recently moved from Win deluxe to Mac deluxe, both subscriptions. Windows program showed Brokerage Accounts and a corresponding "Cash" account which was located under "Checking" on the accounts column and showed cash balance for the brokerage account. Moving to the Mac has worked well, except that none of my Brokerage accounts are communicating with the corresponding "Cash" accounts.

Primary brokerage is Fidelity. The cash accounts are picking up dividend deposits from investments but not showing the "Fidelity Government Money Market" deposits any longer. Everything shows up in the Brokerage account section.

The Win version worked better in this regard, but the user interface with Mac is much nicer!

Is there a complete list of the exact differences between the Mac and Windows versions of Quicken? Is there a discussion on any other concerns about using Quicken on MAC?
When looking for online tutorials and videos, I find that no one seems to be using Quicken (Premier) on Mac, and some are even running it on Parrallels, instead of using the native Mac version, which makes me think the native Mac version has some serious limitations. Is that true?
The Quicken website is almost completely silent on that issue as well, making me feel like there must be some problems?
I am trying to figure out if I have to purchase a new Windows laptop just to run this one application, which of course would tremendously increase the costs.

I am looking to use Quicken to prepare for retirement, track personal expenses by custom categories for a couple pre-retirement years, track investments, make sure bank imports work for dozens of accounts and once certain vendors/transactions are associated with a category, they can automatically apply (but also be custom edited, if necessary—for example "Amazon" purchases may be associated with many different categories). Some retirement planning would be good (Monte Carlo, etc.) but not absolutely necessary since I have dedicated software for that, some serious tax planning would be awesome (including SS tax, etc.—but I'm almost not expecting that since it seems the software that can really do that is quite complex and usually only available for CPAs and CFPs)
I also have 2 businesses and may keep one into retirement. Since that business is the simpler/passive one, I may forgo the business accounting software at that point and see if I can also use Quicken for the business aspect at that point—so I would like to make sure I can upgrade later and not loose any of the personal finance features, or any of my data.

While Quicken isn't that expensive to try, I'd rather not spend the tremendous effort required to get all my data into it and set it up right, if it turns out the specific version I got wasn't going to work long-term or is missing some essential feature.

Then you would proceed to remove the check mark in the box next to

Use posted date for matched transactions (instead of the date you enter manually)

Is there a simple answer for Mac? There usually isn't, and Quicken is the one software that is incredibly more user friendly in Windows.

It's been 3 months now, so I wanted to say how pleased I am, and that I wish I hadn't waited so long to switch! The macOS version feels sleek and modern, unlike the legacy Windows version. (I had been running the Windows version in a macOS virtual machine.)

So great job macOS Quicken team!

The only caveat is that my usage is straightforward - tracking and reporting on multiple bank and credit card accounts - no investment tracking. And while I do wish the macOS version had true multiple currency support (a well known requirement) I can live without it.

I am trying QMac today for the first time, ported everything from my Windows file.

I am sure I will have plenty more questions but here are a few I noticed so far:

in the widows version in "Spending", it can show the total of any sub-category across all my accounts. But on QMac so far, it's separated by currency. My home currency is USD, but I also have a Canadian bank account and I pay for a Canadian mortgage. So in the Windows version, I can show everything related to "Housing" in one monthly total (my rent in NYC, my Canadian mortgage payment, my Canadian rental income from tenant). CAD will be converted to USD to show the total. It doesn't seem like QMac can do that?

Investing: I see that the stock prices in my portfolio are slightly off between the 2 systems. Are they pulled from the same source? why the difference?

I sold some stocks in my 401K account earlier in the year. The windows version doesn't mark that transaction as a "realized gain" income, while the Mac version does (and add the gains to my income for the month). is that normal?

Hi everyone - yesterday I decided to try QMac after 30 years QWin, so (after backing up) I went through the migration protocol. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that all banking accounts came over, perfectly. My mutual funds also came over "ok" in terms of # shares; however one problem — and this is my question. Back in 2019, I executed some transactions by selling some of a mutual fund and using those proceeds to buy a second fund. (This was one transaction at the brokerage house.). For QWin reporting, I used the "BoughtX" and "SoldX", transferring from the one fund to the other fund. Example: "SoldX $10,000 of Fund A and BoughtX $10,000 of Fund B". This worked well in QWin.

In my new QMac, the sale of shares (in A) and the purchase of shares (in B) are properly recorded. However, Fund A is showing, in addition, "Cash" amount of $10,000. in other words, the Fund A account "received the proceeds" from the sale and it remains there. Similarly, Fund B shows a negative cash balance of -$10K.

Any advice on best way to resolve? I've tried to "transfer cash" from Fund A to Fund B, yet I haven't figured out how to do that as I can in QWin. (I only can "transfer" without showing to which account!) Many thanks,

I have been downloading transactions from Citibank automatically for the past year. Today I noticed that the balance field was incorrect. I went back and noticed that some of the history had been erased (prior to June 2024). So I went to the Citibank website and downloaded the history manually and exported a QFX file. When I tried to upload it into Quicken, the import was successful but the historical transactions still do not appear. Why do the line items not appear?

I've used Quicken for decades and in the way back I always started a new file for each new year.
When I first moved over to Quicken Classic, it seemed fine, but somewhere my investment accounts are not synching properly with my investment house.

They fluctuate in large amounts.
All other banking works fine and matches perfectly.

Not sure where the glitch is.
Not sure I want to wade through years of transactions to discover where the glitch is.

Can I / Should I just shut down as of December 31, 2024 and create a new file starting with this New Year? Will that potentially cure this?

THANKS!

After 30+ years using Quicken for Windows, the last 5+ years using VMware on a Mac, I finally migrated to Quicken for Mac over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it went.

Here are some random observations:

I tried migrating 2 years ago and it did not go well. Dozens if not hundreds of conversion errors happened - this time it was close to flawless.

My data file shrunk from about 200 MB to about 20 MB. That alone made it worthwhile!

I find the UX of the Mac version really nice and modern. Lots of thoughtful touches.

I use Web Connect (not Express, which seems to have issues with my bank, RBC). So far I can't get the downloaded files to open automatically in Quicken. This may be a Safari "safe files" limitation. After extensive Googling it doesn't seem easy/possible to add qfx files to Safari's safe files list (you could do this a few years ago by creating a plist).

Budgets don't get migrated, so I had to recreate mine from scratch. A bit disappointing, but not too bad as my budget is fairly simple.

I'm looking forward to exploring more of what Quicken for Mac has to offer!
