        <description><![CDATA[<p>I've read some previous discussions from other users trying to update the customer ID information in Quicken (username at credit union).  But none that I saw addressed the problem I encountered when following the instructions provided.  When I am asked for an account name, I choose my existing account—the one I'm trying to update.  But Quicken asks me to choose a different account name because the one I am using already exists (of course).</p><p></p><p>If I change the name, will the transactions in the existing account (the one where I am having manually download transactions) stay in a separate account?  If that's the case, I think I may just continue to manually download, even though that is nowhere near as convenient.</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>A security issue forced me to update the card # on a Chase account.  I've followed the suggested steps to change the account: deactivate online services, clear old card number, add account, reconnect.  I've repeated the drill several times, and everything works very smoothly, including the login to Chase, with no error messages and no sign of problems.  Quicken finds the account and asks me if I want to add or link to existing; I choose link to existing. (I don't want to duplicate if I can help it, and I worry that if I choose to add a new account I'll wind up with a ton of duplicate transactions, which has happened to me in the past.) But new transactions are not downloading—nothing since mid-December, and there have been many transactions since then.  I've been using Quicken for many years and I'm currently on Quicken version R65.29 on a Win11 PC.  </p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I imported my data from Quicken for Mac and now the categories are assigned to Personal or Business groups without any discernible method.</p><p>Most of my expense categories are now in the Personal group. I want them in the Business group.</p><p>I've read the article about assigning categories to another group, but that only works for Custom groups. I have also checked the Tax Related box and entered the Schedule C and line item. Nope, still in the Personal Expense group.</p><p>I've spent more than an hour researching this and have found no solution.</p><p>So how do I do that? Or is that just not a feature of Quicken?</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I have Quicken Deluxe for Windows 11, build 27.1.66.23 (866.23).  When I run One Step Update, two of my financial institutions do not update: Vanguard and Bank of America.  I have tried resetting Bank of America, got no errors, but it is still not updating.  For BOA, I'm using "Express Web Connect". For Vanguard, I'm using "Direct Connect."  Everything worked fine until yesterday.  Are there any known issues?  All the institutions show up when I start One Step Update. But BOA and Vanguard accounts are not in the One Step Update summary. In going through the setup, I downloaded all my bank account information from my bank.  When the file was imported, I saw that the transactions went all the way back to 2023.  It is not necessary that I have  2023 and 2024 information in Quicken, and I need to know if I can just delete all of these transactions and then enter an opening balance for the register as of 1/1/25, which would be the ending bank balance per my bank statement of 12/31/2024.         <description><![CDATA[<p>I've been using Quicken for about ten years and generally love it.  But I'm sure it is not set up correctly.  It gets confused (or I do) when transferring money between accounts, for example.  Some categories are in two places (Grocery and groceries).  I know I made those errors and have been carrying them for several years.  I was creative.  But now I want to use the software the way it is intended.</p><p>What's the best way to start a fresh file?  I can archive the old info and just start with an empty file.  I want to bring in balances as of January 1, 2026.  I'd rather not enter all the account info.  Several credit accounts, savings, checking, etc.  I've never tracked my paycheck correctly. I would like to stat fresh with 1/1/2026 data, but when I go through the backup file process and click the button to "create a year end archive" specifying I want to start 1/2/2026 (a default date), my current file still has all of the data that was imported.  The backup created is identical to the current desktop version. So wondering what I did wrong…</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>Coming back to quicken after a 15 year absence.</p><p>When setting up again, my payments from my WF Checking to my WF Visa and Chase Visa do not show up as transfers, but instead as self-debits/credits in the category.   (In other words, on the checking account the category is [WF-Checking], and on the credit card side its [WF-Visa] or [Chase-Visa]. <br /></p><p>EDIT: TO be clear, this is on initial account import </p><p></p><p><br />
1) For past payments, is there a good reason to clean this up, beyond I find it very ugly to see [WF-Checking].  Is this just being pedantic?<br /><br />
2) If there is a good reason to clean it up, what would be the most efficient way to do so?   Delete one side, then change the category on the other?     Is there a way to match them "automagically" or semi-auto?<br /><br />
Since I intend to rely 99% on the ongoing download of transactions, and the checking side should post before the credit card, will they "match" going forward and become a transfer?   Or will that only happen if I enter this manually?<br /><br />

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I'm probably going to be starting over after a few days, having made a few boo-boos, and wanting to start fresh.</p><p>I have both regular checking/savings as well as retirement investment accounts (Stock and cash sweep).   There seemed to be multiple ways (3?) to authenticate and do the initial downloads.   The first time I tried, I kept having authentication issues.   After calling in to Quicken, they walked me through first signing into WF directly to enable the download process. And then it brought in about 2 1/2 years of data.   </p><p>IS there a consensus on the best way authenticate/set up (for Wells specifically)?  I utilize WF's bill pay for the few services I need to push a payment, vs having my Wells Fargo Visa charges, or direct debit to my checking account by the biller.    I dont plan on using Quicken bill pay.</p>]]>

SO far, I've manually caught 2 payees that were automatically renamed by quicken, for example "Domino Dreams" was renamed Domino's Pizza<br /><br />
Is there a way to see all the renames in a report, before and after?    TO be clear, I'm talking about any rules I created (I have not made any).</p><p></p><p></p><p>Also, is there a way to mass revert renames I did not like.   (Different Apple channels seem to all be "Apple"), making it hard to seperate recurring transactions from other types.</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I just purchased Quicken Classic Premier (Windows).  I imported a MS Money file.  Quicken successfully imported the data (for the most part) and with a few adjustments I have everything working well as far as account balances go.   </p><p>In the Accounts bar, a few of my accounts appear in the Business category.   That's OK because they are truly related to my business.   However, I have a couple of accounts that are in Personal accounts that I would like to move to the Business section.   I cannot find any way to do this.   I have looked in the account settings and there is no option to make an account business or personal.  I tried using the accounts tools that allow accounts to be moved to a different place in the list but the tool will not let me move any account from Personal to Business.</p><p>Is there a way to do what I want?  What am I missing?</p>]]>
