        <description><![CDATA[<p>I'm a veteran Quicken for Windows user (back to MSDOS days) and have recently switched to Mac. I'm on Quicken Classic Business &amp; Personal, version 8.5.2.</p><p>In Windows, if I had a transaction with multiple split lines, I could copy the category from the previous split line with a keystroke. I can't find any way to do that on the Mac. For example, I just bought a pair of prescription glasses. I have a transaction with split lines for the frames, the lenses, the lens coating, etc. I want each of them coded to Medical:Vision. It is unnecessarily clumsy to retype the category (or as much of it as it takes to identify the unique subcategory).</p><p>Can anyone help me with a keyboard shortcut or other suggestion? Thanks.</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I reconcile my account with the bank statement. I have never had a problem until this month. My December reconciliation showed an error, so rereconciled and I found a deleted item, and restored it. Now the Dec. reconciliation shows no error.  Quicken balances with the Nov. beginning balance and the Dec. ending balance on the statement. </p><p>Now the January reconciliation shows an uncleared balance in Dec., even though the beginning and ending balances match the bank statement. The ending balance for Dec. bank statement matches the beginning balance of the Jan. statement. The uncleared amount on Quicken is $2.40. There are no charges or credits for this amount. There should be no uncleared amount when I start the Jan. reconciliation.</p><p>[Edited - Readability]</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I asked this about a year ago, and I see no traction, so I am asking again.</p><p>When I download items to a register they are put in with a blue check mark. I do not use reconcile on many of these registers as it is unnecessary. But I still would like to select all items in a range with a blue check mark, and set them to green, because I have reconciled them by hand (necessary in many cases.)  Can we please consider an additional menu item to switch a selected group of blue checked marked items to reconcile green? It would help greatly on registers I cannot reconcile by automatic means.         <description><![CDATA[<p>As I mentioned in another post, I often need to hand reconcile some registers. That means holding option and clicking the blue check mark - the solution left to me because I cannot bulk reconcile a selected group of register entries. <br /><br />
If a row is selected and then scrolls off the screen, and then I option-click on a blue check mark of a row now displayed, the check mark changes and then the register "slams" back to the last selected row. Very confusing and annoying. It does not scroll, it jumps.</p><p>I am suggesting that if I option click a check box, that row becomes the selected row, and the screen does not jump back somewhere else.  This feels like a bug<br /><br />

I currently can type in what I want, but there is no drop-down.  In Q2007, I could type the 1st character and tab, and the system would fill it in.         <description><![CDATA[<p>Based on past post on another discussion, my understanding this problem was corrected by Quicken. Do I need to continue making adjustments every time I update?</p><p> I posted this back in December and it was closed with no explanation.</p><p>I posted this issue was still an on going problem that Quicken says was complete and this issue was closed.</p><p> I am still having reconciliation issues with my brokerage accounts. Transaction are downloading properly into the correct account. The issue happen every time I download Dividend Income transactions. This is the same issue that was posted back in September with Fidelity upgrade. At that time you posted that we should let Quicken create the reconciliation adjustment. On Fidelity cash show up in Fidelity Cash Reserves (FDRXX). In my Conversations with Fidelity they stated that all there issues are resolved and this one is a Quicken issue.</p><p> This was posted but seems to be incorrect.</p><p> Quicken Mac users:</p><ul><li>The Money Market security will disappear automatically and be set to cash. Customers whose cash balance is incorrect should perform a reconciliation with the online balance and enter an adjustment to correct the cash balance. From that point on, you will be good to go.</li></ul>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I have experienced more than a few issues with cash transactions in an IRA account at Fidelity.  Currently, the Cash total agrees between Fidelity and my Quicken file.  But the account totals do not.  That difference (about $33,000) reduces to exactly $3.00 if I delete two types of entries in Quicken.  The first one is Adjustments to balance created in multiple Quicken reconcile operations.  The second is deletion of 3 transactions I created to accomplish the same results.  (The Security/Payee I used was "Mystery to Balance")</p><p>This specific account is less than a year old.</p><p>I also observe in a Test File that a fresh import into Quicken of only the Fidelity IRA account, everything is balanced and in agreement.</p><p>The specific IRA account in question has only one entry that involves any other accounts in the Quicken file.  (The problematic account was created about 11 months ago by a transfer of funds from another traditonal IRA account.) </p><p></p><p>I am wondering what the best way to eliminate the roughly $33K issue is.  I can think of 3 options.  And if something else is the best approach, tell me.</p><p>#1.  Do I just delete the problematic Quicken account from my file and import a new account data set? (If yes, how do I do that?). </p><p>#2.  Do I close the problematic account and create another? (I am assuming this is possible since I could download all the data into a new Quicken file.)  </p><p>#3.  Do I  just delete all the transactions mentioned above and accept the $3.00 difference between Quicken and Fidelity?  </p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>My Q for Mac is set to download all my credit card and bank transactions.</p><p>For some reason, one credit card account is showing two duplicate payments each month. That's causing the balance on the credit card to be increasingly positive each month.</p><p>I don't know which of these transactions is the right one and which is not. I suspect the bank account and the credit card account are both showing a payment and not recognizing that one is a duplicate.</p><p>How do I reconcile this?         <description><![CDATA[<p>I use both Quicken Mac desktop and Quicken Windows desktop to track the same accounts while I'm transitioning from Windows to Mac.</p><p>When I update accounts on Quicken Windows, accounts with new transactions are flagged in the account sidebar, and when I go to an updated account, I can accept the updates or do other things. On Quicken Mac, after an update, accounts with new transactions are flagged in the sidebar, but when I go to an account, I can't tell which transactions are new, they're just shown as cleared, like all other cleared transactions. It would be very helpful if Quicken Mac desktop would somehow show which transactions are new when going to an account after an update.</p><p>Is there any existing visual indication that I may not be displaying? If not, would be be possible to somehow indicate new transactions and have a way to accept them or otherwise clear the new state?</p>]]>

Could this be why that one won't work any longer?  It's incredibly frustrating when the price just increased, and there doesn't seem to be any help with a resolution </p><p>Banana Republic Card, I have no idea.  I select the proper option offered by Quicken, and it still tells me the credentials are wrong. Which they aren't.  Sometimes, it even says there is no account associated. Trying to cut the ties with Quick Books, WAY too many features for my sole prop, 1 person business.  </p><p>I am an ATM vendor(cash machines).         <description><![CDATA[<p>Quicken for Windows did this just fine, but the Mac version does not.  Using a python script, I create a QIF file from a list of transactions from my rental property manager and import that QIF file into Quicken.  Again, Windows worked fine, but the mac version complains that it can only import into an empty file.</p><p>I tried creating a csv and importing that, but quicken leaves off important information such as tags and is very persnickety how it handles csv files.  And it won't import csv into an existing account.</p><p>So I wrote a new script which creates a QFX file, however, Quicken rejects this, probably because it does not contain a recognizable bank name.  So it appears that Quicken Mac is unable to import transactions of any sort from a non-bank source.</p><p>Any ideas on how to get a list of transactions into Quicken Mac without having to simply re-type them?</p><p>I've been a Mac user for over a decade and getting weary of running Quicken in a virtual machine.  The Mac version runs much better, with this glaring deficiency.</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to filter the account register to show only cleared transactions, but I cannot find any way to do this in Quicken for Mac. The filter options appear to include uncleared transactions, but there does not seem to be a way to filter specifically for cleared ones.</p><p>This seems like a basic and very useful feature, especially when reconciling accounts or trying to review what has actually cleared the bank versus what is still pending. For example, if I am investigating a discrepancy between the register balance and the bank balance, it would be extremely helpful to quickly isolate only the cleared items.</p><p>Is there a reason this capability is not available in Quicken Mac? Is it planned for a future update, or is there some workaround that provides the same functionality?</p><p>I would appreciate any clarification from the Quicken team or from other users who have run into the same limitation as this seems like a glaring omission for such a basic feature.</p><p>Thanks,</p><p>Mike</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>I found a useful thread (in the QUICKEN CLASSIC FOR WINDOWS forum, but that likely doesn't matter)— however that thread is closed.</p><p>The following from that thread makes sense to me (my <strong>emphasis</strong>):</p><p>"In the case of a deposit, you are the payee, but <strong>the payor is what is recorded because you own the account so that isn't the important part for the transaction, the payor is in this case</strong>." (-forum user Chris_QPW)</p><p>With that logic, the name of a bank that I received an interest deport from, or a person who wrote me a check, is entered in the PAYEE field.</p><p>However, when I looked in help (a link from my Quicken app): info.quicken.com/mac/ I see this:</p><p>"<strong>Payee (default)</strong></p><p>Shows the name of the person or business paid or receiving the deposit."</p><p>My interpretation is this is for when I pay a person or business (that is obvious), but  if <strong>I</strong> get paid interest by a bank, or someone writes <strong>me</strong> a check, entering the name of the person or business that paid me in the Payee field (of a deposit transaction) is not discussed. PAYEE should be the person or business paying me, correct?</p><p>The user in the thread I mentioned also postulates an explanation of the PAYEE terminology use, and it sounds reasonable to me: "They had to pick one term, and they picked payee, they maybe should have picked something more generic, because never payee or payor is going to be correct for all transactions. Between Payee and Payor, Payee is the better choice because you have more transactions where you pay people in most accounts, than they pay you (as long as you aren't a business)."</p>]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>There are many discussions about pending transactions so I don't know if this has been suggested before or if there are any similar Ideas that can be up-voted: </p><p>The current values for the Cleared Status field are "Cleared" (blue checkmark), "Reconciled" (green checkmark), or "Neither reconciled nor cleared" (no checkmark). <strong>Add a new value for "Pending" (red? checkmark or question mark).</strong></p><p>From what I've seen in the discussions, some institutions include pending transactions in their downloads — if these transactions can be distinguished, simply set their Cleared Status to Pending. </p><p>Other institutions do not include pending transactions in their downloads, but they do include the pending transaction amounts in the account's online balance amount. Even though they are pending from the bank's perspective and not downloading, I usually have already these transactions entered into my Q register, either added manually or as scheduled transactions. In either case, I would happily manually set the Cleared Status to Pending. And then when they eventually downloaded from the bank, Q can override the transaction's Cleared Status to Cleared or Reconciled as appropriate.</p><p>My bank is one of the latter institutions, which is why my account only reconciles when it has no pending transactions. I've asked the bank to change (or correct, in my opinion) their download, but I doubt that that will happen.         <description><![CDATA[<p>First, let me say I have been using Quicken since the days of DOS. Over the past 25 plus years I have called support once. For the last year, this is my 6th call for various issues related to their software. For the past 3 weeks, I have been dealing with Quicken, where the online balance does not match the bank's balance. I am using macOS. When I call we go through the same routine over and over again with no resolution. They blame the bank and will not forward it to the programmers. We did a screen share. I had screenshots of the issue, I had the bank open and Quicken open. I tried to explain to her that I have 2 checking accounts and 1 saving account with the same bank and same login to see all 3. The Savings and 1 checking account matches, 1 checking does not. What does she want me to do? Go through the reconnect process again? Why? We just did that and it doesn't matter, same results.
