Is it Quicken for Mac 2007 or Quicken for Mac 2007 Lion Compatible? As I understand it from posts in this forum, the former will only work in Mac OS 10.6.x at the latest while the latter will work in Mac OS 10.7 through at least 10.9. It MIGHT work in 10.10, but I haven't tried anything pat 10.8.
Definitely sounds like you have QM2007 original versions (v16.0.x). If you want to use the "same" version, you will need to upgrade to the Lion Compatible version (currently at v16.2), which will run with no change on Yosemite, OS X 10.10 (except some minor cosmetic issue with some space between the top of windows and the toolbar).
You will need to contact tech support https://www.quicken.com/support#contact-support. with at least a single session charge of $10, then ask for the LC version. They may charge you $15 for the software.
Alternative, you could consider upgrading to QM2015. You can find it for as little as $44 at Amazon. Also, after your purchase if need be, you get free tech support and can get QM2007LC for free through them.
If you do consider QM2015, I suggest that you make sure it will meet your needs, since there are some features that are still not there or are not as fully developed yet (therefore some data may not carry over). You can start here;
Thank you both for answers. Far as I can tell the 2015, like the essentials, will not do the buy and sells for my portfolio. It will track a list of stocks but not the activity on what you own. Only 2007 did that. Peach version of quicken dropped features.
I don't see the reply I wrote. I said I can't tell what version I have since it will not open at all. And the new 2015 still will not do the stock activity.

Actually, QM2015 made significant changes to Portfolio Management so it is a truer tracker of activity. That said, it is still a first new implementation, so it still lacks some features, that may or may not affect you. You would have to check for yourself. Quicken does have a 60-day refund policy.
You can confirm your version by right-clicking the Quicken app to select it, then select Get Info. The version number is in the Get Info box. v16.0.x is the original. v16.1.x and v16.2 are the Lion Compatible versions, which also run on Yosemite (OS X 10.10)
