Issue: Unable to update accounts or log in to Quicken for Windows on Windows XP

Update: Windows XP is no longer supported for use with Quicken
Over the last two years, technology companies and financial institutions have been rapidly moving to replace outdated internet security protocols with more modern, secure, protocols, in order to protect their customers from security threats.
As you may be aware, Microsoft has not issued any security updates to Windows XP since 2014, when they stopped supporting the Windows XP operating system; this means that Windows XP uses outdated security protocols.
Due to all of these changes and updates, we are no longer able to support the use of Windows XP with any version of Quicken.
What does this mean for you?
If you’re using Quicken 2014 on a Windows XP system, you may find that you’re unable to register or sign in to Quicken 2014.
We will continue to support Quicken 2014 until April 30, 2017. However, if you are experiencing connection issues with Quicken 2014 on Windows XP, you will need to upgrade your MicrosoftWindows operating system to Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, in order to continue using online services with Quicken 2014.

Just found out - the hard way through lots of support chats etc, Quicken
on XP is now dead. Sure, don't fall for the 2 releases of support and
all that beezwax Quicken advertised when you plunked down $$ for the
product.
Core issue is they no longer support TLS 1.0 and XP does
not support the other TLS 1.x options. This seems to manifest most
notable with Express Web Connect and the ever popular Intuit ID (sic)
interact. You cannot enter your Intuit ID any long, you just get a blank
white screen when it tries to prompt for Intuit ID
There are many, many ways this might manifest for you:
- May get a CC-899 error, which indicates an internet connection error (generic)
- Express Web Connect downloads won't work, but Direct Connect may
- You cannot enter the Intuit ID
- You cannot enable mobile alert (requires Intuit ID
- You may not be able to create new accounts, except Cash accounts
They even posted a lovely, way behind the duck posting about it, yesterday: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/issue-unable-to-update-accounts-or-log-in-to-quicken-for-windows-2014-on-windows-xp
Never
mind the fact that the 2014 product was supported on Windoze XP when it
shipped and actually worked up to about 2 weeks ago. Though I'm still
experimenting on direct bank downloads. But so far, it's toast.
I've
been a Quicken user for 16+ years and will look for an alternate
product, now that Quicken has been sold to a new regime, as Intuit wants
to go 100% cloud based. IF anyone knows of another product, let me
know.0 -
