Store bank passwords outside of Mac KeyChain

Not a big fan of the Mac KeyChain since it's encrypted with the login passwords which tend to be weak. Store bank passwords outside of the Mac KeyChain.

    A work-around solution to create a more secure Mac Keychain is as posted by @lhossus here: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/mac-keychain-to-store-bank-passwords?topic-reply...

    "That is easily accomplished:
    1. Launch Keychain Access
    2. File > New Keychain
    3. Give the keychain a name, and a file location.
    4. Assign the keychain a unique, more secure, master password.
    5. Right-click (Control-click) on the new keychain in the sidebar and select "Make Keychain ... Default".
    6. Right-click on the new keychain in the sidebar and select "Change Settings for Keychain ..." and set the inactivity timeout lock.
    7. Optional: locate all the keychain entries created by Quicken and drag them to the name of the new key chain in the sidebar.
    After this, all new keychain entries will be stored in this new more secure keychain. You will have to enter the master password for this keychain to gain access to any of the entries. In particular, anytime you run Update Online Accounts in Quicken, you will be prompted for this keychain password. The behavior reminds me of the PIN Vault in Quicken for Mac 2007."

    I love the sound of this workaround, but I'm curious, will there be any impact to macOS or to other applications which have already stored items in the Keychain (assuming there are items stored that are important and that I wouldn't know to move to the new keychain)?

    Along those lines:
    Do applications and the system have a way of knowing "which" Keychain contains the information they need? Presumably, after some time, some non-Quicken applications may store some information in the "old" Keychain and some in the "new" Keychain. Does that have the potential to cause problems?
