International version of Quicken (3 Merged Votes)

Quicken Community
Quicken Community Employee mod
Quicken is recommended replacement for MS-Money. But Quicken is US users only. I would like to see International version of Quicken, which everybody can buy and use. Of course I understand, that not all features will be supported in Europe, but as the International users community will growth, that you can add more supporting Europe environment (bank connections etc.).
Btw: In Europe we have new law, that every bank have open connectivity to accounts via defined API - so the market for Personal finance SW will possibly growth there and it will be shame, if Quicken will miss there.
Thank you Richard

Totally agree. It's a big market as well. A software which can handle multiple currency stock price uploads from various exchanges around the world is missing as par of a personal accounting package. When will you include?

Yes agree. I think by going internationally, not all Quicken features will be available to users but this has to be make known. For example, connection to banks may be will be disabled but I believed this is not the core function of the software. Which many users still OK if this features is turned off or cannot be used in their country.
Many will still agree to manually key in almost everything. Quicken is a very great product which in my knowledge, does not have direct competitor and complete function as it have.
    May Quicken roll out internationally.

Yes yes yes! I started using Quicken in the US and developed a good habit of tracking my finances with it. However when I relocated to work outside the US, it became a hassle to use and required lots of workarounds. I really hope that Quicken gets on this and develops an international-capable version soon!

I have just realised after a long chat with Quicken online that if as I have a US brokerage Account and also a Canadian bank that if I want to download tranactions instead of manually entering them, I will have to buy and run two separate versions as they are mutually exclusive :(
Really hard to imagine in this very international age that no one has a trully international product?

@Morgan In your case, I would get the US version (investment accounts have trickier downloads) and import .QIF files for the bank accounts.

See these two threads on doing .QIF imports:
    Edit QIF -manually

    Edit QIF - with ImportQIF

If the bank does not provide .QIF file downloads, there are ways to go from .CSV, .QFX or .TXT files to .QIF files for the import.

    @Everyone Else
.QIF imports apply to all of you.  IMO, the most expensive part of supporting Quicken is keeping up the download channels and going international would be extremely expensive.

I used Quicken when living in Europe.  It supports multiple currencies.
    1. Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
    2. In the left pane, select Calendar and currency.
    3. In the right pane, select Multi currency support.
    4. Click OK.

Yes. You can still buy Quicken from outside US, provided you have US address.

True and so sad!  Please do allow users to register with an address outside USA/Canada. I have been forced to use Banktivity just because it does things for international customers, which does not do and have no plans to do it in near future.

YES, YES, YES. Quicken must produce an international version, even if don't connect to banks. I've a Mac version (bought with US address) but still using my old MS Money Sunset until it lasts, just because don't have a int version.

My Canadian bank provides a .qfx download, but when I try to automatically update my account with this file, it says "downloaded data does not match the currency of your Quicken account"

Not gonna happen.  Quicken is only licensed for use in the US and Canada ... and you're actually in violation of US Export laws for taking it out of the US and Canada.
Also, the Saudi banks would need to sign contracts with Q for this to happen ... Q can't force it on them.

You can't even get Kindle books in some of these areas - and you want money, financial transactions, and encrypted software ?

  • Currently in the U.K. and using the 2004 Quicken version. Even this dated software is the best to use. Make some money and sell us a recent version please. Even Microsoft (rubbish) have stopped providing software. There is no other software that provides a simple graph and cash book to show how close to the red you are. Anyway, thanks for a terrific accounting software. I will continue to use it as long as my computer runs.

    Hello;

Brazil is a huge country, with over 200 million people, is the largest country in South America, and the sixth in the whole world. (by population).

That been said, I really think quicken should try to focus a little bit more on this market, I bet it would bring a lot, and I mean, A LOT, of costumers, because a huge part of this population is financial educated, and this movement about financial education is spreading very fast since the last couple of years.

So, the main idea behind it would be:

    1. Integration with the biggest institution in the country. (Banco do Brasil, Caixa Economica Federal, Santander Brasil, Bradesco, Itaú).
    2. Brazilian Portuguese language. (Even a lot of the population speaking English, it would open a lot more market if the software was able to be in Portuguese language).
    3. Integration with the financial market in Brazil. Having Brazilian stocks, Brazilian index, investment funds, and others.

Please, if you are Brazilian, and are eagerly waiting for this feature, vote!

Although this is an old topic I 100% endorse this. It shouldn't be hard to negotiate with foreign countries financial institutions for Quicken to have access to their system the same way it does in the US and Canada.
