Quicken Rental Property Manager 2017 crashes when I try to prepare a Schedule E report for 2016

Lots of crashes.  But this one is particularly troublesome as I need to turn my info into my accountant.  When I click on report/rental property/schedule E it comes up for the current year (2017).  When I click on 2016 it crashes EVERY time.

    1) What is the exact
release number for your version of Quicken?

If clicking on Help / About Quicken does not show one of the following you are
    missing required software updates:

    Quicken US version:

    "2014 ... Release R10",  https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-2014-windows-release-notes-updates-and-mondo-patch

    - "2015 ... Release R12",  https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-2015-windows-release-notes-updates-and-mondo-patch

    - "2016 ... Release R11", https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-2016-windows-release-notes-updates-and-mondo-patch

    - "2017 ... Release R5(or higher)", https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-2017-windows-release-notes-updates-and-mondo-patch

    Quicken Canada

    2014 ... Release R4

    - 2015 ... Release R4

    - 2016 ... Release R3

    - 2017 ... not yet available

Quicken Canada users: Do not download the patch or Mondo Patch files in the
above links. They apply to Quicken US users only. Instead, scroll down the
webpage to the Quicken Canada section and download the file hiding behind a
    clickable word "here".

    Please do this even
if you are on the latest release already:

Locate the Mondo Patch file (US)
or Canada Mondo patch file applicable to your version of Quicken in the links

Download it and save it to disk.

Temporarily disable your Antivirus software for the entire duration of the next

Right-click the downloaded patch file. Click "Run as Administrator"
    to execute the installation program.

This will replace any Quicken software modules with a known consistent release
level and, hopefully, eliminate any software corruption or errors during installation
as a cause of this issue.

    2) Validate

    You need to validate
your Quicken data file. It may have become damaged over time or as a result of the
crashes you experienced while running Quicken.

Please run this procedure, skipping no steps:

    - Make a copy of your data file: Click File / File Operations / Copy.  Do not change any Copy Option settings. Save
file under a new name in same folder as current Quicken data file.  (The Copy process appears to be performing a
record-by-record copy of the data file and not just a simple binary image copy.
This has been reported as recovering some otherwise not repairable

    - Open the copied file in Quicken.

    - Click File / File Operations / Validate and Repair. Click Validate File,
check to make sure the copied file is being validated, click OK. Let it run.

    - Fix any errors logged as not repaired by Quicken.

    - Now close and restart Quicken using this new file and try your failing action
again. If it works, keep using the new file and abandon the old one.

    - If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may have no recourse but to restore
your Quicken data file from a Manual or Automatic Backup taken prior to the
problem first occurring, if necessary going back to older backups until you
find a file that does not exhibit these symptoms.

I have the same problem.  I even went back to a file from 10 months ago.  The problem is with the Quicken program, not the data. My report is a grid of category for the rows and tags for the columns. The report shows but if I want to look at the details, Quicken crashes.

Are you trying to work with a Saved Report that was created and saved in an earlier version of Quicken? Those are known to be troublesome. Create and customize a new report from scratch.

    If all else fails, ...

    3) Contact
Quicken Support via Chat or Phone at  http://www.quicken.com/contact-support  and report this issue.

Scroll down to the blue box at the bottom of the Support webpage for access to
    Chat or Phone Support.

Please let us know if you were able to get it resolved through Support (or not).

I created a new report as well as trying a previously memorized one.  Same problem.  I spoke to support and they plan to expedite this issue.  I am clearly not the only one and it seems to be related to tags.  As others have stated, it wasn't until doing taxes with rental properties where I have a grid report that I ran into this issue.  I tried using dates for the columns and there is no problem there, just with tags for the columns.

I had a similar problem. Maybe you saw some of my posts.  Spent many hours on phone with support as they had me trying to find a backup from a year ago that didn't cause the crash...  Finally they had me download a different QWLaunch program from github.com and use this to run Quicken. They never really did say what the exact problem was and I had to use a restored file to get it to work.  Sorry you are having this problem too.

Here is more detail on what I did to correct the problem...

After many hours on the phone with quicken support they finally had me try this:
Please click on this link: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickenco...
From here they had me click on this link: https://github.com/JohnstonJ/QWLaunch...

I'm not sure why this worked on my Rental Property Manager 2017 version, but I was able to run my tax schedule reports for the prior year without Quicken crashing with the "QuickenWindow has stopped working" error. I have included some detail from the github.com page...

Bug fix release of QWLaunch. Causes Windows to apply DPI virtualization to Quicken. Tested with Quicken 2014/2015 but likely compatible with other versions.
This version fixes a harmless NullReferenceException error that would erratically appear.
Installation: extract the QWLaunch.exe file to your Quicken installation folder. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\QWLaunch.exe. Run the QWLaunch.exe file whenever you want to use Quicken.

Thanks. I'm going to call again. I created a new report. Same tbing. After much time on the phone they said it's the operating system. Ha! It happens on two different computers. Quicken needs to fix this. I don't use the Rental Property program. I just create the reports on my own. I think they've dropped the issue once again. Nothing is wrong with my data. I even wemt back to a year old file.
