Are you talking about the "Notes" column / field or the "Memo" field?
The Memo field is part of the fields available to the Report Generator, the Notes field is not.

I am talking about the "Notes" column/field.  I am wondering if it is possible for the software to be modified to provide the option of having the "Notes" column included in the Report Generator.  I print out reports, and I use both the memo field and the notes field to record specific information, but I cannot print out all the information if I can't print the notes field.

Then, submit that as an IDEA, instead of as a problem.

I often flag transactions so they show up on alert screen.  When I click on the Alert icon on the actions bar, I see the followup date, and the account, but nothing which reflects the Notes I put into the alert to describe the history and actions I need to take.  Could you please add this Notes info to the Alerts "results" list, so I can see at a glance, up front, what is in each Note for each Alert which is reported?  Seems like this would make that function much more useful.   The Notes field contents on the Alerts screen don't necessarily need to contain the FULL contents, just whatever can be displayed on one line (perhaps with the ability to scroll "to the right"). Thanks!

    Also, please enable user ...
    - to re-size the columns with drag-n-drop, and
    - to sort (ascending/descending) individual columns by clicking on the column headers.

Today, can't see full date unless i hover over the field.  Lots of space for Description field (most of it blank), but very little for Date, and NO content in "TYPE" column (what is that column/field intended to describe?)

    Thanks!

Will there be any response/post on this website to indicate status (investigating/in plan/rejected) of this suggestion?

No, as this is a user to user forum.  While a posting can be listed as "Idea", that does not mean Quicken Inc. will act on it.

    GeoffG, thanks for clarifying.
Does anyone know of a website which can be used to post user suggestions, AND  which will be reviewed by (and hopefully acted on?) by Quicken staff?

I use "Transaction Notes and Flags" on a regular basis and would like to be able to print a report which includes the Transaction Notes (not the Memo field information).  I suspect the answer is that it can't be done, but I'm just checking to be sure.

    Hello Robert,

That's a great question and thank you for sharing it with the Community, although I apologize that you have not yet received a response.

Please visit https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7134394/how-do-i-print-the-notes-column-or-the-tag-column-in-a-register-the-notes-column-is-not-on-the-prin and let us know if this information helps.

    Thank you,

Thanks, Sarah.  The link you provided confirmed what I thought, which is that Transaction Notes cannot be printed/exported.  Maybe in a future version, I hope.

    Hi Robert,

You are welcome and thank you for posting back.  I've gone ahead and changed this post an "Idea" post. The Idea posts are reviewed by our Development teams for insight on what features and functionalities our Users are asking to see in Quicken.

Idea posts can be voted on by other Members of the Community and the more votes an idea receives, the higher it is prioritized by Development for possible future implementation in the software.  Submitting an Idea to the Community is one of the best ways to request a new feature or functionality in Quicken.

    Thanks again,

    Sarah

Is there a reporting and exporting option that allows for Notes to be exported. And I mean the Notes field, not the Memo field.

Interesting question....   I had never thought about it, but there really is not a way to report those "extra" columns that you can checkbox for display in a Register.
There does not appear to be a corresponding selection ability within the various reports to checkbox and report those "extra" columns....
EDIT - updated the topic title to better reflect the actual Q&A

I don't recall any provision to print, report, or export the Notes field associated with individual transactions.

Thank you, and thanks for updating the topic title. I wasn't sure how to phrase it. Is there a way to request adding a feature such as this? I found what I believe is a similar question to this, but it was for the Mac version. It seems it was requested and possibly just forgotten about. The link in the that particular question was no longer valid, which is what lead me to ask my own. For me, it would be nice if *all* fields are exportable, but for my own specific purposes, the Notes are of specific interest to me at the moment.

    Thank you

It would be significantly helpful to have a Notes or even a Notes 1 and 2 field to be able to include on reports and printing.

Expense report number cross referencing / recaps,
    Original Memo field Information

    1) My husband has as a significant number of expense reports in his job. I put the expense report number in the Notes field to cross reference when I need to review all expenses captured and submitted.

    2) I use the notes field also to code that I do or do not have a receipt and whether it is an ER (Electronic Receipt) or HR (Hard Receipt) or NR (No Receipt). Then I don't have to go digging for backup that may or may not be there and/or I narrow the search to digital or paper.

    3) I like to keep original downloaded Memos as there is helpful reference information such as airline ticket numbers when I need to recapture air miles.

Additional to my above post voting for a Notes field to include in reporting and printing.

Currently, If you type or paste data into the Notes filed as a first keystroke, and then do so in the Memo field, the Notes field data auto erases when you save.

This Idea is already flagged as "Under consideration" by the developers.

Everyone, including the person who initiated this discussion …
If you would like to see this enhancement made in a future version of Quicken please don't forget to vote on it. Locate the big blue box near the top of this webpage (or page 1 for long discussions) and click the "Up" triangle under the voting count.
Wait a moment for the vote count to be registered and updated before you continue.
The little triangle changes from grey to black when you have registered your vote.
Adding extra comments helps, but does not increment the vote count.

I have started using the Notes Column in addition to the Comments column to track specific information. When generating reports, I would like to add the Notes column to some reports since it allows me to add additional information to document the expense for tax purposes. For deductible travel expenses I would like to put the city in the Notes filed so I can easily see it in reports. My account tells me that travel meals are only deductible when out of town overnight and this would easily show that when I print reports.

@TomLH As noted above, this is implemented. I don't know what you mean by "Comments" column. There's no such thing. Maybe you meant "Memo"?
