RESOLUTION: Quicken Mac 2017 4.5.4 Fails to Launch post-update
Some customers have encountered a crash when attempting to launch Quicken Mac 2017 after installing the 4.5.4 patch update.
This has been confirmed to be a permissions issue with the data file that the team is working on a fix. In most cases, you can use the simple workaround as follows:
If you are still crashing and unable to open the file, the previous version of the app can be retrieved from the Trash. You can use the same backup file and open it using this previous version.

- Open Finder > Go & hold Option key to see/select the hidden Library folder
- In Library, browse to Application Support > Quicken 2017 > Backups > Automatic Backups
- Open the file named BACKUP (Pre-Update) - your file name.quicken2017backup using v4.5.4. If there is more than one of these files, use the most recent one.
- When prompted, choose to Restore This File and specify a location to save the file.

Please download the utility named RepairCorruptDatabase.app.zip, then double-click that zip to extract the app. When extracted, run the app and select the file you're unable to open.
The utility will repair the database, then allow you to open the file in Quicken Mac 2017.
