can't reinstall 2017 deluxe, says it's already installed

Quicken 2017 R15 was acting strange. Trying to reinstall itself when downloading transactions from sites, opening splash screen said it was "Rental Property Management". Uninstalled via control panel.image Can't reinstall. It hangs and says i have to uninstall previous installation, but it doesn't show up anywhere to be uninstalled.

    Hello Ed,

    When you have a moment, please follow the instructions and tool from the article linked below. Running the Qclean tool should provide you with a clean slate allowing you to re-install Quicken with out receiving the error you are currently experiencing.  Please update this thread with your results once done.

    Do not use Programs and Features.

    Right before you are ready to reinstall, download CCleaner Free from:  http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

    Once installed run the Cleaner portion once and the Registry portion twice for No Issues.

    CCleaner Free removes the Registry Keys that are left by QcleanUi.

    This is why you need to use QCleanUi, to avoid the programs that Programs and Features, causes with incomplete removals.

    Now you can reinstall Quicken 2017 Deluxe. Let the product update itself.

    Then re-register your Quicken Data File for use with a new Installation.

    UPDATE: Had to go into the registry and change ownership/permissions of those keys. Installation went ok, but had a rough time trying to sign in the first time andget my data file migrated.

    Thanks Ed, to update my Quicken Deluxe 2015 I did it by down loading Quicken Deluxe 2017 from Quicken and didn't get a CD.

    I have not been able to get anything from them.
