"Update Selected Online Account" does not work on Q Mac 2018 Premier v. 5.5.6

"Update Selected Online Account" DOES NOT WORK on Q Mac 2018 Premier v. 5.5.6.
Just as it didn't work a year ago on 2017.  It is a useless menu item, as it updates all accounts from all institutions.  Quicken should either delete the menu item or make it work as it says it should. It does the same function as "update all quicken accounts" on the selection above it.  except the "udate all quicken online accounts gets bogged down in password inputs making it useless as well.

Hello Ed, sorry that you are having issues with the feature of Quicken for Mac.

Which banks are you using in Quicken? Are they setup for Quicken Connect, Web Connect or Direct Connect?

Please let us know so that we can best help you.

    Respectfully,
    ~ Quicken Harold.

    Ed,

If the account in question is a Quicken Connect account, then all other Quicken Connect accounts at the same time.

If the account in question is a Direct Connect account, then all other Direct Connect accounts at that same bank will be updated at the same time.

That is the nature of the connection types. It's a technical issue due to the way that the connection types work and there's really nothing that can be done to change it.

I'm guessing you only have Quicken Connect accounts. If you also had some Direct Connect accounts, this behavior would have been more obvious.

Let me suggest that you check into whether you can change any of your Quicken Connect accounts to Direct Connect. It is generally a more reliable and faster connection method. The only catch is that some banks charge for this and some don't support it at all. Here is more info on changing to Direct Connect:

I agree with Ed. If this is the way it is, just delete that "selected account" menu item. For those of us with slow data, sometimes you just want to update one account.

@Dtinen  Read RickO's post above yours. It explains that this feature does work in some instances, depending on the type of account connection types you are using. It will not do single accounts for Quicken Connect accounts; it will for Direct Connect accounts (on a per institution basis).
