"Backing Up Your File" confirmation has disappeared [Quicken for Mac Premier 2018 Version 5.6.0 (Bui

With the 5.6 update there is no longer a notification, when quitting Quicken, that a file-backup is being performed.  This notification provides a subtle degree of assurance that all is working well.  It should be restored to the product.

    Hello Bob,

I'm sorry the 'Backing Up Your File' screen is no longer appearing, and appreciate you reaching out today.

Our developers recently released an update that increased the backup speed which, in turn, eliminated the 'Backing Up' screen you're used to.

Quicken for Windows has the option for a confirmation screen after creating a back-up to confirm your backup was successful. Is this something you would be interested in seeing in our Mac products? Please note that users also have the option to disable this pop-up screen if they prefer not to receive confirmation.

I'm more than happy to reach out to our Mac developers to request that we add this option if it might provide some peace of mind?

    Please let me know!

    Thank you,

    Alex

I don’t feel it needs to be put back in, most of your applications do not give you a pop up that your file is bing backed up. Use it a couple of time and if you have droughts open the file again and look at your lat entry.

I like the fact the program closes down quicker

We are talking about essential financial data being backed up.  I used Quicken for Windows for over a decade, and I always had 100 percent assurance that my data file was being backed up upon application shutdown, without ever having to probe the file system to confirm this.

Point two is that displaying that notification, with a built-in timeout of something like 5 seconds, certainly does not slow down shutdown of the application.

Just my 2 cents as a 35-year enterprise software architect, engineer and product manager.

Like many things, this is one thing that could be set up as optional.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Q2018Mac: Backup Popup missing - Mistake.

Q2018Mac V5.6.0 has eliminated the 'pop-up' that confirms that a backup has occurred when exiting the application.  I found the 'pop-up' reassuring.
