Quicken should allow for mass deletion out of the pending downloaded transactions tab.

I keep getting duplicated transactions from having to reset my account for online services. The root problem of this is that Capital One Card Services keeps going crazy and I have to do this to keep it working. However, every time I reset it, I get hundreds of duplicate transactions in the pending download tab. I know I can accept all and mass delete after acceptance but that is a very annoying process to go through. It would be far easier if I could just mass select and delete in the downloaded transactions tab before accepting them.

I know the resets are "working" (sort of) for you, but have you tried doing an "Update Now" from the register's Action List?  Doing it should not cause any extra transactions to be downloaded.

Yes I have, it will work for some time, then one day it will start failing and won't work again until I reset it.

Deleting a group of downloaded transactions. Bulk delete prior to entering them into the register. Sometimes a get duplicates of transactions that were already downloaded (amex and a replacement card). Being able to select a batch delete and confirm is mich better than deleting each one.

Accept them first, change the sort order by cleared/reconciles status, and then bulk delete.

Good idea, suggested many times before.

resetting account downloads many transactions that I've already entered, and I want to mass delete them, but it appears that there's no method to do this.  Can this be an enhancement in the next update.  PLEASE!

Accepting then deleting them all is a good work-around, but one really shouldn't have to use work-arounds!

When downloading credit card transactions, many come through with a comment line of $0.00

I'll have 5 or 10 a week.  I have to delete them one at a time.

Suggestion:  Offer a button to delete all $0.00 downloads at once.

Yes, and if you sort the register by the status (C, R) you can select all the "C"s then delete them all at once.

In the downloaded transactions section we have "Accept All" button, "Accept" and "Finish Later", when are they going to add a button for "Delete All" and make it easier for us instead of having to delete one by one?

    Jane,
In reading your post, it sounds as though you know how to delete transactions one by one.  If so,  please post how your are accomplishing that.  thank you

@Jane: it would be helpful if you explained why you want a delete all feature added to the handling options for downloaded transactions. Normally, downloaded transactions should be either matched or accepted, not deleted. The desire for a delete all might be indicative of an underlying issue. In your response, please also indicate whether you are using Web Connect, Express Web Connect, or Direct Connect.

Like you have on the image is how I delete one by one the transactions after I reset the account or deactivate/reactivate, but since I already have them I want to be able to delete them all

When I reset the account, or deactivate/reactivate the account, Quicken download transactions that I already have in the register, sometimes download even 120 transactions, and it's exhausting delete one by one. They should add a button to Delete All, like the one that says Accept All.
    That's what I'm saying.
BTW, the reset or reactivate/deactivate process is when I call support and the agents provide the steps to fix the error at the time.
Some accounts are with express web connect and some with direct connect.

@Jane: two lines of thought here...
    1. It is abnormal to have to use either the reset function or go through a deactivate/reactivate (I am inferring you are using Express Web Connect) often. If you are having to resort to either of these tactics to resolve EWC issue more frequently than, say, once per year, even if you are downloading transactions daily, then I suggest you should be pursuing the cause of the EWC connection problems (and a more permanent solution). A starting point for such would be to post more detailed information here, including listing the financial institutions involved.
    2. If, in rare situations, you do need to bulk delete downloaded transactions, because they are duplicates of previously downloaded transactions (but with different Downloaded IDs), then you can accept all into the register and bulk delete the accepted transactions once they are in the register. An effective process for such is described here: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/faq-i-have-a-manual-account-i-want-to-activate-for-downloading-how-do-i-prevent-duplicate-transactions

Personally, I would, instead, be “hopeful” about not having to use Reset or Deactivate.

    From C. D. Bales:

" ... when are they going to add a button for 'Delete All' ....".

Based on the past: never. They attempted to do that years ago and decided against it.

" ... and make it easier for us instead of having to delete one by one?".

But it't not that hard to delete all downloaded transactions. Assuming you're talking about non-investment accounts: you do not have to "delete one by one". The technique below has been posted here multiple times.

_ Add a temporary transaction to the register.

    _ Accept All.

_ Sort the register "by Order Entered" (see "Sorting Options" in the register Account Actions dropdown).

_ Select all the transactions you want to delete - all transactions starting with the "temporary" transaction you entered in the first step, through the last transaction in the register. [You select multiple register transactions just as you would select multiple files in Windows Explorer.]

_ Right-click a selected transaction and select "Delete".

Arctic Hare - Once again, this reply is a bit off topic, but I wasn't sure how to reach you. I recently posted "target downloading duplicate transactions," and I am wondering if your "20 step fix" might work for that problem. If you can locate my post, you will see that I am also getting multiple, duplicate transactions downloaded from Target (which requires laborious deleting, making me quite sympathetic to Jane's post here, but I also appreciate what you are suggesting about fixing the underlying problem). Target does use Express Web Connect. Thanks, Mike O'Brien

@Mike: I've provided my comments and recommendation on the other post.
  • I agree with wrightbg and Rick.  This is a chronic problem and Quicken needs to fix it.  My number one peeve with the program at this moment - and happens often....

Quicken - are you monitoring this and can you let us know if you have something planned?  The workaround above is often cumbersome, especially for an older account with lots of transactions.

Has anyone found a workaround for this issue in investment accounts? The same sorting options are not available in Investment registers, so if I accept all ( literally thousands of duplicate transactions that Quicken did not match), I have no way that I know of for identifying these unwanted transactions for bulk delete process

Quicken should take a year and stop adding "Features" and just fix bugs. The product has the features we all want, but it just is not stable. Ugh!!
