Thanks Roger Walker, for now I went back before the update with Time Machine. I will try it later on if you don't mind.
Thank you for your quick response.

    Hi All,
With this new release, the database in Quicken files was updated to improve file integrity and in some cases reduce file size.  Typically, this takes only a few minutes after you install the update, but in some rare cases it may take much longer.  You can always click cancel to start using Quicken.  However, if you click cancel, it may take a few minutes for your file to open as the process reaches a point where it can interrupt the update.

If this isn't working as you expect, please reply here with a screenshot of what you see when you're waiting to open your file.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi calloway,
Have you also recently updated to 5.6.5?  What are the exact steps you take before Quicken freezes?  What OS are you currently using?  Hopefully, this information will help narrow down what's going on so we can get it fixed--

As a general troubleshooting technique in this situation, you can hold down the shift key while you launch Quicken. It will ask you if you want to open the last-opened file. If you say Cancel, you will be able to use the Let's Get Started dialog to create a new empty data file. If everything works okay in the new data file, then we know that the problem is with the existing data file and not the Quicken app installation in general.

Have my file open using Quicken Mac Version 5.6.2 (Build 56.22432.100). I renamed the 5.6.5 updated version that wouldn't open and luckily was able still to drag old 5.6.2 from Trash to Applications. Crossing my fingers this will continue working OK!! Intuit- you MUST be more careful!!!

@Dave8361, just to follow up on the posts above in this thread, with the 5.6.5 update, Quicken performs an update to the database. For some users, it looks like it's hung and not launching, but it's really doing the database reorganization process. For most people, just walking away and letting it churn for awhile results in a successful completion and return to normal operation. If you force quit, it tries to restart the same operation the next time you launch, so it's easy to think it's broken when it isn't. If you care to try again -- after insuring you have backup copies of your current application and data file stashed away in case you need to revert -- just let Quicken run for a bit and see if it completes its startup after 5 or 10 minutes.
