missed payment monitor

bradwwwbradwww Member ✭✭
hello - i first suggested this feature to Quicken 30 years ago when i first started with Quicken 3 for DOS.

missed payment monitor: if a regularly scheduled monthly payment is not made within 10 days of it's normal scheduled date (following transaction download) alert the user - could be a vendor issue or card expire date or over-limit or security issue but needs fixing ASAP otherwise services will be discontinued causing pain.

could cause a storage unit to be auctioned off, office to be closed, account to be closed, stop serving ads, etc.

Seems like a very simple feature to implement and i hope to eventually see it.

I can control payments I make to others, but if the vendor is tasked with TAKING the payment from your account and they do not for whatever reason - they will still close your account and YOU deal with the consequences. thanks.

But how do you propose that Quicken be able to monitor activity with the FI/Bank? That is the purpose of reconciling... I am not sure the infrastructure is there for Quicken to handle this.

simple - you pick a transaction - say rent payment - it must be in an account that downloads transactions - then each month on the same date or within 10 days if it does not see a downloaded charge from the same place - notify the user. just a simple monitoring system - it is up to the user to remember to download at least weekly of course!  thanks for the comment.

So you are proposing a way of flagging scheduled transactions to monitor so that during the download process, if they are not matched within the # days of the expected transaction, you get a warning... I can see that being feasible to implement...

    Thanks for sharing.
