I have a 2007 Mac version of Quicken. I use it solely for record keeping on my computer. I do not do online stuff with Quicken. I would guess I am way over due for an upgrade and would like to know the best way to upgrade and what to do. I have a mac desk top computer. Thank you Blaine Bolton
As long as you have macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or higher, the current version of QM2019 will read your QM2007 data directly. That said, just be aware that QM2019 is NOT an upgrade from QM2007 but a migration... QM2019 is a new Quicken for Mac product rebuilt from the ground up (built on QEM from 2010) so it still lacks features that exist in QM2007. So be sure to understand if it will meet your needs. You can read a lot more about the differences here: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/quicken-for-mac-2018-or-qm2007
At the same time, be aware of the potential that QM2007 will not work with the next version of macOS 10.15(?) when it comes out in the Fall of 2019 when Apple is supposed to drop support of 32-bit apps (which QM2007 is).

You know what I would like to see? An end to a pop up to upgrade every single time I launch my software I paid for already. You're treating it like it's shareware but I already paid.
Now you want us to pay an annual fee to upgrade a product we've already paid for. You had better have fixed all the problems if you want to suck money out of me annually. I only wish you had a competitor!
When you recoded the product after Quicken 2017, the stack view was ruined, expressly the removal of the "Show Paid" check box that allowed me to pay future items in advance and still see them in the stack view until after their date windows had moved into the past. I used that feature to pay future items ahead of time so that I always had the lowest possible balances on credit accounts for their monthly credit rating reporting window. This is a terrific way to improve a credit score. I could have accepted the move that you implemented at the same time to annual subscriptions, but the elimination of the stack view functionality that last exists in Quicken 2017 to keep paid items in the view is a non-starter for me, and I will never upgrade to any subscription version that doesn't reinstate that capability. I strongly suggest that you or one of your staff members that looks at these tings go back and look at the widespread commentary regarding the horrible changes to the stack view that began with Quicken 2018 to resolve it back to the way it worked so perfectly in Quicken 2017.
I don't do the online things and refuse to make monthly payments. You should offer a CD with just the basics. I don't want to be a hostage for payment in order to access my files....
I don't want to feel this way either. I have used quicken for many years and never felt this way..
I've been a Quicken user since Microsoft Money stopped updating its software. After the change from Intuit to Quicken, I have had many issues related to sync, transactions, ID, etc, etc, etc. Most recently, the program suffers from being remarkably slow to operate. Very cumbersome and tiring to wait long periods for the program to open, make changes, etc. No matter the processor speed it appears. I won't be renewing next year unless this improves dramatically.
I purchased the 2018 update, but it would not install. I have had numerous problems with Quicken losing connection credentials, refusing to connect to some services for days, double posting entries, and non missing entries. The creation of “temp” accounts in the posting process complicates everything.
In the end, Quicken has gone from the most valuable tool in America to the most untrustworthy financial action a person can do,
I switched to a free alternative that works flawlessly.
I was in the software business 25 years. Quicken user 25 years. I understand your move to saas. But a year ago after a forced paid upgrade, nothing worked. I called support a few times with no resolution, and then told I needed to pay $150 for the support call to get any help. Then indian dude sparked me telling me I know nothing how software and support works. He then hung up on me. So disappointing to see after using a product for so long ...

Agreed. I don't use many of the features that they are asking us to pay for. Why not continue to sell a low key version without all of the online portions (which I imagine is the big cost driver in continued software support). I've been a user since the mid 2000s -- updating every 3 or 4 years. Blasting me with email adds and pop up adds in software I've already paid for is a good way to encourage me to look for alternatives. I especially love the many email adds declaring "last chance!" when the very next day a new equivalent offer begins. You've made a nice product, but the focus on online banking is pricing out a subset of your users who simply want to use the product as a digital register.

@Tim46 Intuit, the owner of Mint, sold Quicken a couple of years ago at least.

Mint is owned by Intuit... Quicken split off from Intuit in April 2016 (though the foundations of current QMac was created by the then CEO of Mint when Intuit first bought Mint).

I used Quicken for Windows for years and was always happy with the program. However, the last computer I bought was a Mac and Quicken features for Mac and Windows are not the same. One specific feature that I really rely on is Savings Goals. When will you incorporate that feature into Quicken for Mac? While I do use use savings goals for saving for a few “fluff” items like a new chair or sofa, its real workhorse use is for accumulating cash for monthly bills or bills paid annually, such as car insurance or property tax. That way I’m never surprised. I put money away monthly in a savings goal so that when an annual bill comes along the cash is saved and ready to unload. I’ve created an archaic workaround but I have found that reconciling accounts is paramount to a migraine level headache. Please, once again, will you PLEASE include savings goals to Quicken for Mac??? Windows users, I am so totally jealous. This feature is so important to me that I may have to jettison my Mac. Debbie F

I have no interest in going online with my financial information. We need a way to keep this on our desktop (or desktop like) computers without monthly subscriptions.
I accept the need for Quicken to generate income through subscriptions rather than selling a once and for-all version. But you must add value at regular increments to continue with that model.
I would like a module that would walk me through setting up reports to aid in collecting data for filling upcoming income tax. Not just checking that an expenditure qualifies for a certain line on a 1040, but (in January) I could check categories, individual transactions and a special designation. I find the current report design tool to be very precise to the extent that blank reports are produced three, four or five times before a useable one is produced.
In investments, a simple way/preprogrammed to handle normal or purchased CDs. That is, something other than an accountant-inspired 'return of capital' at maturity. Work with firms like Merrill Edge so that the interface with Quicken does not generate a number of unuseable entries that have to be deleted. I admit that Merrill's processes were developed when computers were accessed with batches of punch cards, but they are popular firm.
The pay bills via Quicken competes with free services from banks. Banks, on the other hand, are making feeble efforts to offer budgeting and expense tracking services. But only for one account at a time. Tune your offerings to compete better with those efforts. It is frustrating to try to delete an entry and receive a dialogue box that prompts a more complicated way.
Yes, a reworked budgeting tool would relieve me of building one in Excel.
So why is it that when I purchased my year access from a 3rd party instead of through the software... I know have all the downloaded transactions coming through with the names listed wrong. I have to click revert to downloaded name on ALL of them to start to correct it and spend 20 minutes determining what is what.
Your product isn't better just because people don't call. Many of us are fairly savvy with programs and can figure out the issues on our own without assistance. And when it comes to software issues that I cannot fix I don't have time to call Quicken to talk to a tech about it. Last time I talked to a tech their solution only fixed the problem with the mobil app until the very next log in... so about 1 hour. Waste of my time... and my time is worth about $35 an hour. I only use quicken because it helps me double check my financial records and customize my projected balance outlook which I can do on my bank website. However, there are still some flaws on the bank website with balance projections and I prefer to be able to view it in a checkbook style setup. If your program is going to cause me to have to weed through transactions for 20 minutes every time I download them from the bank then it wont be needed much longer.
At least for QMac, you can control when updates occur. Not so much with QWin (though there is a hack that will stop updates too...don't recall the details... might have something to do with altering an .INI file or something).

Hi! The one feature I would really like to see would to be able to store my data files on the web, and then use Quicken Mobile to enter transactions directly. This is tied to my not being able to store my data files on a network share reliably and access them from any computer I happen to have handy at the time. BTW, I enter all transactions manually, and will continue to do so. The automatic downloads are more trouble than they are worth to me. I really do appreciate the product as the best one out there for PC-based home finances. Just let me work with my data somewhere besides a specific PC. Thanks!
You might want to consider using remote access software (several free options, e.g. NoMachine and Teamviewer) to access Quicken on one computer from the other, or even mobile devices (see this great article for complete review of many options (most are free): http://machow2.com/rdp-for-mac/ ). Though this article was written primarily with Macs in mind, there are many solutions offered that work for Windows too. The advantage of these solutions is that you retain access to all the features of Quicken, unlike Quicken Mobile. The trade-off is that the host computer cannot really be used for anything else while using Quicken with these remote solutions.

Oh well this is true... it “was” owned by the same company. Doesn’t change that this is why the both are terrible when it comes to function and flow. I would say from the looks of this feed that Eric Dunn is sadly misinformed on the status of product satisfaction.
I don't do the online things and refuse to make monthly payments. You should offer a CD with just the basics. I don't want to be a hostage for payment in order to access my files....
I am still considering going total old school and keeping a desktop .... checkbook... (oh that was painful to say). I just hate the idea of manually entering everything with the level of transactions I have going on.
Hello, When you used to get asked the question do you want to back up quicken now? You could pay to back it up offsite specifically for Quicken files. I don't see that as an option any longer, have you come up with an alternative? Lisa
When can MAC get payee naming rules with categorization?
About 90% of my transactions are with the same payee's. I have to spend time every morning renaming payee since the download name is usually not readable and almost all of them need the category selected.
80% to 90% of my labor in using Quicken for MAC could be eliminated with this one feature that I had when I using the windows version.
It has been mentioned by Quicken Marcus, the product manager, that this is in the works, though not sure when it would get released.

How about going back to the old way Quicken was sold--sell it to us on a disk, and we will upgrade when there are enough improvements to warrant upgrading. I have used Quicken Deluxe for 10+ years and each annual upgrade does little or nothing to improve the prior version, so I upgraded every two or three years. The new, annual, and perpetual, subscription model will have me using the version I have, and already paid for, for as long as possible.

I find that using the backup is not stable, (ctl-B), it fail to backup to a designated hard drive that I choose. and I have to restart the quicken to get the file back from errors from trying the backup. also citi bank stopped downloading in quicken, I have tried to reset the account without success and not resort to downloading it directly from the bank to quicken. It worked fine until a few updates that were made a month ago. maybe you spend too much time outside of the original quicken processes. Paul

Quicken is STILL a desktop based product, where your main data resides. Any online functionality is completely optional (except needed to validated your registration, which is online).

If you could only solve the Quicken BillPay account setup delays. Been waiting for approval of a new payment account for over a month. Subsequently set up a new BillPay account after subscribing to new Quicken service. That was 13 business days ago.
Calls to service center do not resolve the delays.

While the current version is relatively stable and improved somewhat, the subscription model along with the current pricing is a no go for me.
Concurrently using Win Deluxe '19 and a competitor's program. With the latter being half the price without a subscription!
You need to discuss pricing and loyalty discounts.
And the last thing I want is more stuff online!
