I'm incredibly grateful for the work you and your team have put into improving the Mac version of Quicken. For the first time in years -- actually over a decade! -- Mac users don't have to feel ignored or even forgotten.

But on that note, are there any plans to make the Mac version more Mac-like? A dark mode (like macOS Mohave) would be decadent. Touch ID and/or Touch Bar support would also be helpful. I have a full list if anyone is genuinely interested.

I am 79 years young.  However I have Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) which makes the small light blue print very difficult to see without making mistakes.  Letters double sometimes and lines overlap.  If i increase the font to the largest the popups overlap the bottom of the page and I am not able to close  them.  It would help those of us with sight problems if the blue color was darker and if the reconcile drop down page would allow scrolling so that we could get to the bottom of the page and close it.  More available fonts would also be helpful.    Rollan Gongwer  (Private Information Redacted) Thanks

It would be nice to have an upgraded version that would let you serialize parts, at a affordable price. I chatted with someone today and the told me it would cost $1408.00 and that is out of reach for a small company.  But other than that I like using the Quickbooks,

    Eric,

While there have been some bumps in the road over the past year, I am very pleased that Quicken management has revitalized the product after a decade or so of the previous owners letting it slowly die. So while the job isn't done yet I say "well done".

Unlike some others here, I think it is great that Quicken has *finally* joined the modern world and provided online and app access to complement the desktop. As you point out, no one is forced to leave the desktop.

Please keep the momentum going in 2019. Two things I'd like to see (1) improve the reliability of the desktop/cloud sync - it still has issues, (2) achieve Windows parity with the Mac version so I can finally ditch Windows (in particular I need support for foreign currency accounts and transfers).

    Eric,

I have used QUICKEN for over a decade, and finally a few weeks ago upgraded to your 2019 versions. What a joy it is. Yes, you've improved a lot ESPECIALLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to call 4 times and every time I got excellent assistance with the first call. NOW, there is one more BIG project you have to tackle. BUY QUICK BOOKS from Intuit and fix it. I use QB for my business, and it is a horrible application. It is probably one of the least intuitive apps I have.  Blessings.  Stan Williams, PhD.

I accept the need for Quicken to generate income through subscriptions rather than selling a once and for-all version.  But you must add value at regular increments to continue with that model.

I would like a module that would walk me through setting up reports to aid in collecting data for filling upcoming income tax.  Not just checking that an expenditure qualifies for a certain line on a 1040, but (in January) I could check categories, individual transactions and a special designation.  I find the current report design tool to be very precise to the extent that blank reports are produced three, four or five times before a useable one is produced.

In investments, a simple way/preprogrammed to handle normal or purchased CDs.  That is, something other than an accountant-inspired 'return of capital'  at maturity. Work with firms like Merrill Edge so that the interface with Quicken does not generate a number of unuseable entries that have to be deleted.  I admit that Merrill's processes were developed when computers were accessed with batches of punch cards, but they are popular firm.

The pay bills via Quicken competes with free services from banks.  Banks, on the other hand, are making feeble efforts to offer budgeting and expense tracking services.  But only for one account at a time.  Tune your offerings to compete better with those efforts.  It is frustrating to try to delete an entry and receive a dialogue box that prompts a more complicated way.

Yes, a reworked budgeting tool would relieve me of building one in Excel.

I used your product many times in the past. So signed up for your online program. It is so buggy,! I tried to enter my CCs and other accounts and each and everyone, I have been locked out, cancelled and had to change passwords. I want my money back, and there is nothing but a long waiting support line. Better to manual to my own data base.

    Hello Eric,

I have a 2007 Mac version of Quicken.  I use it solely for record keeping on my computer.  I do not do online stuff with Quicken.  I would guess I am way over due for an upgrade and would like to know the best way to upgrade and what to do.  I have a mac desk top computer.  Thank you Blaine Bolton

I have Quicken 2007 (Quicken for mac 16.1.4). Is that the same as Quicken 2016? It's confusing. There are options to import from Quicken 2007 and Quicken 2016.image

After using Quicken for close to 20 years, I quit using it last year after tons of frustrations with password issues, constant upgrade downloads, navigation issues that were never a problem before, exorbitant pricing changes, security features that make it almost impossible to use the product, loss of local storage and on and on and on. After reading the letter from Eric Dunn I started thinking that maybe I had made a mistake, so I came to this blog to see what others were thinking. After reading only a small sample, I'm convinced I made the right decision. My bank has an online banking system with capabilities that suit my needs perfectly at zero cost. If Eric believes he is improving his product, he needs to think again.

I have quicken 2016. As of 11-2018 I have not been able to download my bank info into quicken. The bank says it's a quicken problem and quicken says it's a bank problem. What's my next step to get this fixed? I have already spent hours on the phone with quicken and the bank. Frustrated!

No QM2007 is the old legacy version of QMac. The way to start is to select File > New where you will choose to "Start with a Quicken 2007 file":

I purchased the Deluxe Vs of Quicken a year ago and have not been very satisfied.. I ran a business for about 50 yrs and started with Peachtree, which I didn't like, then moved to Quicken and then moved to Quickbooks and then to the Contractors Vs as my business grew.  I was very happy most of the time with QB's.. So, when I retired I did not need QB's anymore and I thought  ok, I'll get Quicken, thinking it was still owned by the same company, Not!!! I am constantly having problems syncing with my bank, and am told via messaging, "It's not your fault try in a few days, Have you changed your name or cancelled your account" etc.. This is maddening. I keep waiting to see if you will get it together and am at the point of giving up.. Any ideas that maybe your technical staff has missed with me would be  greatly appreciated..

    Hi Eric,

I have been a user of Quicken since its very first commercial version.  Recently however I have had some concerns about its stability and design.  I have downloaded Q18 a couple of times and while it installs it will not display on my W10 based system using a high definition monitor.  And my 2016 version is very inconsistent on how it handles fonts and spacing so that on a high definition screen (1920x1080) it gives inconsistent results.

So congrats on some major updates and new features, but please pay attention to basic usability and maintenance of product to current system standards.

Why would you on insist on forcing click-through upgrade reminders on me every time I open the app?  Who thought that was a good idea?  I’m up to a minimum of 4 clicks to dismiss dialogs before I can even run Quicken (Mac).  No way to turn off upgrade reminders?  That qualifies as customer abuse.

I had the 2007 for my MAC and it did exactly what I needed. Due to a computer issue and had to get the newer version - 2018 - and it's awful. The very simple steps to get reports are now either not available or not in a useful format. I hate it when things get harder rather than easier. VERY FRUSTRATING...Guess it's time to call for help and stop wasting so much time.

As a quicken user from the days of DOS please keep in mind some people fear  life without Quicken.  It is essential to some, myself included that the program remain running without too many glitches.  When problems do arise and I realize until it is fixed I am at the mercy of the support system, one feels helpless and wondering when changes will be made or if new programs should be learned and data imported. I certainly do not want this to be my future. Please keep the program running well and attend to issues promptly of better yet attend to them before the customer is aware they exist.

I have given up on Quicken after using it since the early 90's. It used to be great but now I can't even reconcile my accounts on it. Which may be because I can't download my checks to my accounts. It used to be my "go to" place for income tax work. Not any more! I have had to hire an IT to come help me figure out all the twists and turns that have been added to it over time. It was a great program in the beginning but it's now a total wreck IMO.

I have been using Quicken to do my booking keeping for well over 30 years, as well as purchasing quicken program updates as well as products. I recently purchased a new computer as my operating systems are becoming obsolete, I didn't have the install disk for quicken 14, so I purchased quicken 19 installed in my new computer,
I have 2 other computers that I use for backup, I have been trying to update the program in them with unsatisfactory results, my backup disks are not being excepted, I'm hoping that you would not expect me to buy a new version for all three.
If that's the case I will have lost my confidence in Quicken products after all these years. Please don't disappoint me, greed has been running rampant more so than ever in the soft ware industry, If there's a solution to my problem other than deleting
quicken from my back ups, I would appreciate a response, yours truly.

I have Quicken 2019 I have called Customer Service and no solution, when you do the auto update withTD Ameritrade or Suntrust, it wipes out banking records in Suntrust.  This started with updates in fall of 2018.  Service tech solution was to reload old records from bank, I told her they were 2017 and before and I could not.  Cannot use the auto update, reconciling manually.  Thank goodness I was brought up in the era where you were taught how to manually reconcile.
