Home Quicken for Windows Errors and Troubleshooting (Windows)

Q2019 Fonts, sharpenss, and color palate is awful. Anyone else?

Just forced to "upgrade" to QW2019 to maintain connectivity, and the interface is horrible. The font is fuzzy, the grays are washed out, the demarcation between panels is nonexistent, and the pastel color palate is horrid. Hey management, Quicken isn't used by 5 year-olds who like Crayons. If you are going to force us into the subscription model at least put the money into GUI programmers who know what they are doing.
I don't need a "happy" color scheme for graphs, and we shouldn't need to squint to read our registers. How about a sharper font, darker lines within the registers, and clearer splits between panels? And dump the pastels. MS learned their lesson in color management 15 years ago, so I wonder how long Quicken will take to get a clue. Anyone else having issues with the sharpness?

Unfortunately, MS has not learned their lesson.  Office and other MS programs now will not let you change you screen colors from bright (Blinding WHITE) to another color.  Trying to work in Word, Access or Excel for any length of time will just about make you blind.

With that said I agree the color selections are poor but they may be limited by what MS offers with Windows 10.

Seriously? I work in Word, Access, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint all of the time and every day. There are THOUSANDS of font and color choice combinations to work with. You better believe if I put out a product with fuzzy fonts in the interface I would hear about it. The cross platform systems I am helping to design have sharpness and contrast built in for an age range of users. The font in this post, the browser I am on, and the Outlook I use is not fuzzy...the font in the menus in Quicken is. Contrast and sharpness on the GUI is what I am seeking...and you cannot select those.

Please review this discussion. It shows where in Quicken for Windows you can control colors.
    https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/change-colors-or-remove-alternating-blue-white-b...

Font size problems? Display issues? (Windows)

    Please try this:

    1. Close Quicken !!! (This
process won't work while Quicken is running!)
    2. Check the Compatibility tab
settings in your Quicken Desktop program icon:
    • In the Windows Start Menu
right-click the Quicken icon. Select "Open File Location". This
brings up a Windows File Explorer window. Right-click the highlighted
      Quicken shortcut line item.

      or
    • Go to the traditional Windows
Desktop and right-click the Quicken program icon.
    1. Now click Properties.
    2. Select the Compatibility tab.
    3. Uncheck all settings.
    4. Windows 7, 8.1: Check
"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings".

      Windows 10:  Check
"Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" and
      select "Application"
(also try the other available options. One of them might fix your particular problem)
    5. Be sure to uncheck the
"Run this program in compatibility mode for [older Windows
      version]" setting.
    6. Click the "Change
      settings for all users" button.
    7. Click Apply and exit.
    8. Now start Quicken and see if
      that makes a difference.

    Some additional
    tuning suggestions:

Unless absolutely required, try not to use "View / Use large
    fonts"

Try setting the bank account registers to use a different font style or size:
in Edit / Preferences / Register click the Fonts button and try different
    fonts.

Try adjusting the bank account registers' row height: in Edit / Preferences /
Register choose among the available Row Height choices: Compact, Comfortable or
    Standard

If all else fails, try changing Windows Control Panel / Display options for
"Make text and other items ... smaller or larger" to use a different
    scaling level.

Well UKR, you are certainly a super user. That takes care of the fuzziness, and thank you for that. In WIN10 it took Properties>Compatibility>Change High DPI settings>then checking the Program DPI option to "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings" to clear up the sharpness.

I would think installation process would account for the OS settings in this day and age. Compatibility settings...quite a stretch into the way back machine for me.
I'm still going to stick with my other criticisms on pastels and panel clarity. Hopefully the development group can continuously improve as we go forward with the subscription model. Thanks again...I'm cancelling my eye test now.

Then you are not using Office 365.  I can change the Ribbon but anything else in Office forget about it.

I'm not commenting on the menus, I'm commenting on the registers and account selection boxes. Light gray lines on a pastel background. Blue account selections on a white background. Account balance graphs that have set pastel colors without any ability to assign to bolder colors to specific accounts. Another user pointed me to windows compatibility settings for the fuzziness, which is something I haven't used to get a program to work right in a very long time. I appreciated that input. One shouldn't have to be a software engineer to set up a consumer product, or scour user boards to make it readable.
I accept some things in programs I won't have to upgrade every year, but when a company comes out in a forced upgrade looking to squeeze revenue out of a user base they should expect the user to demand fixes to the flaws those users overlook. I expect the same thing from MS in terms of usability.
I'm not here to have an argument with you. You do you. I'm exploring the options to  move on and migrate away over the next year or so. It's a competitive and unbundled market. Have a nice day!
