Chase Credit Card QFX Download problems into Quicken for Mac 2007

High Sierra 10.13.6 Quicken for Mac 2007 16.2.4

Suddenly last week the QFX file downloaded from a Chase Credit Card account updates the total but does not include any transactions.  Everything proceeds as normal but no transactions. I have disabled/enabled the account but to no effect.  Any ideas, please?

Do you get any error messages?

The QFX can be viewed with a TextEdit. If you have never looked inside,it might look a little cryptic but you should be able to figure out if there are any transaction data in the file.

No error messages.  I did as you suggested and it looks to me that there are transaction data in the QFX file.

Having the same problem. Text Edit reveals that the file has transactions, but nothing loads. Perhaps Chase's file is no longer compatible with 2007 (but what suddenly changed)? I am guessing the program somehow communicates with Chase to verify something ("Checking with Financial Institution" displays), but Chase isn't sending the proper response?
  • I am having the same problem.  I have several Chase credit cards and it's happening with just one credit card.  I opened the downloaded file in TextEdit and can see the transactions, but can't get them to download.  HELP!

@CKliger while you've got that file open, search for the string FITID, and see what value immediately follows it.
@ElaineDefeliceDeLong, see if you can do he same thing.

Because I suspect that both of you are downloading from Chase via Web Connect ... where you log into Chase's website and initiate the download yourself.
Chase has managed to break that method of download.  The FITID values will be "None" ... which isn't a valid FITID.  It's via the FITID that Q determines what transactions are dupes ... and since they all have "None", Q sees all but the first as a duplicate ... and won't import it.

  • Yes, mine has NONE.  So what do I do?  I called Chase and they told me I had to contact Quicken.
  • I started experiencing the same issue in January 2019 downloading my Chase credit card transactions into my 2007 Quicken. Ironically, I am still able to download my Chase bank and savings account transactions just fine into Quicken. I emailed Chase last week and they told me that "We are aware of the issues while downloading transactions into Quicken. We request you to try again later." I also called Chase technical support this afternoon and they transferred me to a Quicken rep, who tried to sell me a $200 subscription to their technical support services :(

    Hello kristinrh,

Thank you for taking the time to share the details of this issue with the Community, although I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues downloading transactions from Chase Bank into Quicken.

It sounds as though the Chase Support Agent may have transferred you to a third party company who claims to be support for Quicken but are in actuality a scam who charge large sums of money for their "assistance".

Quicken Support is always free and available by phone or chat by visiting https://www.quicken.com/support#contact-support.

We've received notification that the known issues with Chase Bank have been resolved and all accounts should now be able to be added or updated in Quicken, however since you are still receiving an error please contact our Support Team so they may look further into this.

    Thank you,

    Sarah

I, too, have been having this same problem since January 20.  As suggested above, I opened the QFX file with text-edit and can see all transactions have unique FITIDs and all data is present.  Tech support at Chase could not solve the issue and suggested I contact Quicken at 800 446-8848, which was not the right department but the rep there referred me to Quicken at 888 311-7276.  That rep simply said Q2007 for MAC was no longer supported and that I should install Quicken 2019. Is that the only solution?  Oh, I also notice that since February, Chase now puts a very long name on its QFX file, eg, Chase####_ActivityYYYMMDD_YYYYMMDD_YYYYMMDD.QFX  Not that that should be a problem, or is it?

Here is the beginning content of the QFX:

I believe the problem in this case is the length of the file name. QM2007 was written and built on an older Quicken which still applied a limitation to the file name to 32 characters for backward compatibility. So the solution is simple... change the file name so it is less than 32 characters and hopefully it will then load.

    Report back the results.

  • I find it odd that I can still download automatically download QFX files for my Chase checking and saving transactions directly into my Quicken 2007 but not my credit card transactions. I wonder what the difference is?

is the length of the file name for one longer than 32 chars and one not?

I hear you about wanting to stick with QM2007... I'm still there too.

    Thanks for sharing your solution.
