Keep working during one step update

Currently, while one step update is running, you can't do any work in Quicken. It would be nice if you could keep working or at least view anything in your accounts/portfolio/reports in read only mode while one-step-update works in the background.

One Step Update spawns of what is, essentially, another instance of Q. And only one can function at a time. This won't be fixed until Q does a TOTAL re-write of the product, to enable it to support multiple threads.I suggest that you go read email while Q updates.Q user since DOS version 5

Have you considered doing OSU during off hours so as not to interfere during use? If so, Scheduled Updates is the solution available now.

While I would love to see OSU run in parallel, what are the chances that the programmers will get the synchronization right? I would rather they fix the serious, long-standing, bugs first.
BTW, many years (decades?) ago, OSU did have an option to run in parallel but they deleted it (presumably because they couldn't get the synchronization right).0 -
@NotACPA It would require a complete rewrite of myself in order to look at emails during OSU.
@GeoffG I didn't know you could schedule it. Probably wouldn't work for me though the way I use Quicken on my laptop.

@mdnielsen You, or any human, could probably be re-written more quickly than Q could.Q user since DOS version 5
