Problem with signing in, validating, correcting investment errors that the recent update caused.

After the recent update in early June, I can't validate or repair files, I get a pop-up sign-in box that goes blank and then says "success", but needs four or five clicks to exit, and I have an investment error where something called "SEC1" replaces one of my investment holdings and has messed up my accounting. How do I fix this without restoring a backup that I saved from before the update?
