Date changes when entering spin-off transaction

This issue has been discussed previously. What many of us do is enter the Corporate Securities Spinoff, redate the new transactions, and change the RtrnCap to RtrnCapX and the Buy Shares to Add Shares. Using the Corporate Securities Spinoff gets the ratios applied properly, changing the dates corrects the history, and the last two changes corrects the cash and sets up the long-term and short-term capital gain calculation properly for a future sale.

ps.......And you might want to consider upgrading to a newer version as computers get updated.
You should at least try to convert to the 2013 version since you don’t use any online services or download transactions now. Starting in 2014 they instituted an ID password to get into your own data. I’m staying on 2013.
You can download 2013 for free using this how to convert article. It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009.
https://www.quicken.com/support/how-and-when-use-intermediate-version-convert-older-versions-quicken
And FYI- All Quicken versions prior to QW2010 store your data in a series of files all sharing the same filename but with different extensions like - .IDX, .QEL, .QPH & .QDF, and all 4 of those files were rolled into a single-file .QDF in starting in 2010.

Old Quicken Patch downloads 2000+
When running an old, unsupported Quicken version you may no longer be able to download bug fixes (patch files) directly from Quicken.
However, they are still available here:
US version: http://www.quicknperlwiz.com/quickenpatches.html
Canadian version: http://www.quicknperlwiz.com/quickenpatchescanadian.html
If clicking on Help / About Quicken does not show the highest Release number available for your version (year), as shown on this webpage, download and install the appropriate file(s) from the link above.

Well, I upgraded by antique 2008 program to 2013 and attempted to alter my recent spinoff transactions as suggested by Sherlock. However, I don't find a "RtrnCapX" option in 2013. Is there an alternative?-1
