Issues with "Home Inventory" and Quicken.

I wonder if Quicken technicians still working on the compatibility with "Home Inventory" and the main program?

    I believe it will still work but that Quicken is depreciating Home Inventory in Quicken.  In other words they no longer seem to be working on it or supporting it.  Does anyone else know more about this?

    Hello All,

    Thank you for reporting these issues to the Community.  We have received an update on the ticket opened with Development and I apologize but due to the age of the Quicken Home Inventory product a resolution to the crash and/or error that "no account is selected" is not available.

    Quicken Home Inventory (and Emergency Records Organizer) is a "legacy" product that is no longer supported.  Quicken Home Inventory has been made available as part of the Quicken install package as a courtesy for Users who have data in those programs, but, unfortunately there will be no new Development work or bug fixes for these legacy programs.

    We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience and encourage you to review the possible alternative solution provided by @jl747 at https://community.quicken.com/discussion/comment/20014802/#Comment_20014802

    Here is what I have done along with using Attic Manager.

    I located the following files
    QHI.EXE
    QuickenHomeInventory.exe (installation file)
    QuickenHomeInventory.exe.manifest
    qhi.exe.config

    I found these on my Windows 10 Pro @ C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken

    I created a folder to back up the files so that when Quicken
    removes these files I will have a copy to use as a stand alone.
    Note: stand alone up until it will not work on Windows 10.

    To create a stand alone create a Desktop short cut of the QHI.exe.
    The rest is the same. Such as backing up and QHI.IDB.
    They can be left in the same folder as they are now. In my case under Documents.

    As for Emergency Record Organizer. There is no data file to to copy since that is
    a part of your QDF file. (If anyone knows otherwise please post location - Thanks)
    Best to do is print a copy or export a Report as a xls.
    If it crashes when exporting look for the EmergencyRecordsOrganizer.exe
    in the same location as above. Make Compatible with Windows 7 with Quicken closed.
    It may not work the first time. If it still crashes reboot computer and try again.
    No guaranty it work for everyone.

    If anyone has any other suggestions do not hesitate to mention them here.

    FYI
    I just ran an update to Quicken using the internal path.
    Open Quicken then go to Help then to Check for Updates.
    Quicken downloaded and installed a fix the QHI.
    It was installed but I did not let it open just yet.
    After it installed I rebooted computer.
    Then I opened Quicken ran QHI the had it update Quicken.
    It worked without any errors.

    Quicken should now be Version R21.16 .
    Build 27.1.21.16

    What a good news!

    If you have Version 21.16, I figure that you use US version of Quicken.
    I hope that the same update will come for Canadian users.

    For now, I use Quicken Home inventory as a separated program.
    I've deleted this account from Quicken and created a Property account with the summary value of Q. Home Inventory.
