CANNOT OPEN FILE. QDF from later version of Quicken
- but ALREADY have Latest Ver R21.17 BLD 27.1.21.17
A few days ago (~8-26-19) QW automatically updated program to Latest Ver R21.17 BLD 27.1.21.17 .
I've used it every day since (as always for 20 yrs)- only having to deactivate and reactivate DISCOVER, AMEX, CITI, and ELAN (FIDELITY) online-update accounts.
Then it was working as recently as last night (9-7-19 @7:47 pm pdt).
I always save several backups to different drives daily.
But this morning (9-8-19) the file I had been using (and all the restored backups I tried) would not open because of error message:
CANNOT OPEN FILE. QDF from later version
but I ALREADY have the Latest Ver since 8-26-19,-> R21.17 BLD 27.1.21.17
Now program R21.17 will not open any of these QDF save under NEW VER R21.17 BLD 27.1.21.17 ;
But instead opens a 2 month older file created under the previous QW ver.
However, HELP ABOUT QW says: R21.17 BLD 27.1.21.17 .
And if I try to UPDATE QW TO LATEST VER it says:
" YOU ALREADY have the Latest Version (release R 21.17)."
But I can't get any of the files, or their backups, to open under this latest version now; although it worked ok last night (9-7-19 @7:47 pm pdt).

Hello mgmStargazer,
Sorry, you have yet to receive a response.
I would start by running QcleanUI to uninstall and reinstall.

I would then attempt to open the file once more.
Let me know if the issue persists!

Based on your mention of R 21.17 please confirm that your are using the Canadian version of Quicken.
The latest version of Quicken US is R 22.17
