Widen the definition of Average annual return

When I purchase a stock or mutual fund anytime after Jan 1, Quicken assigns a N/A for the average annual return (YTD). I would like to see it compute the return based on the date of purchase for the stock. As it is now, I have to manually enter a ghost transaction from Dec. 31 of the previous year.
