One Step Update fails for SunTrust Bank

Michael S.
Michael S. Member ✭✭
Why when I try to update SunTrust Bank does OneStep Update evoke my browser and tries to connect to:
https://internetbanking.suntrust.com
This then does nothing?

    Hi @""Michael S." ,

Do a Manual Backup before beginning.
Deactivate all SunTrust Bank Accounts, within Quicken. After all, have been Deactivated, click on Set Up Now and link to the proper existing Registers. If, incorrect, then restore the Manual Backup and try again.

Here's the FI entry - the URL looks ok -
    02801    02801    02801    SunTrust Bank    http://www.suntrust.com    1-800-382-3232    https://www.suntrust.com/microsites/PCBankingEnrollment/PCBanking/Agreement.aspx    ACTIVE
    BANKING,PAYMENT,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&DIRECT
    BANKING,CREDIT&WEB-CONNECT
    BANKING,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&EXP-WEB-CONNECT

and FYI - here is the screen from the 2nd longer URL -

I ma not sure what this means or what you are suggesting. I am already enrolled in SunTrust online banking, not PC Banking. I received Quicken One Step updates for a few years flawlessly for all my SunTrust accounts. One SunTrust account updates correctly currently. I do not want SunTrust's fee Direct Connect for Quickbooks. The question is, why does Quicken UPDATE Transactions evoke my browser for SunTrust Checking, opens the web address mentioned above then fails?

that's a weird one - since, the URLs used should be the ones listed -
It would be interesting to see any screen shots of this happening...
    You invoke One Step Update,
and somehow it brings up your external browser (outside of the Quicken browser)
and wants the webpage for - https://internetbanking.suntrust.com -
    which does not exist.
I searched thru the internal Quicken FI file,
and there are other banks that use that syntax, but none of the SunTrust entities...

Problem solved! Deactivated all Sun Trust accounts. Set up web connect for SunTrust Banks rather than SunTrust Bank. All's fine now. Thanks for all of your assistance.

OOOPS! Spoke too soon. SunTrust Banks is not working now either. AND, it downloaded that bizzare 9 bizilloin dollar ending balance. (See my other post.) Quicken is requseting taht I select how to receive a verification code, text or e-mail. And if I cancel at that point Quicken shuts down. Frustrating!

Tips for setting up Suntrust with downloaded history from Suntrust.com
Make a backup before you start if you have data you do not want to lose.
    a. You want "Suntrust Banks" NOT "Suntrust Bank"
    b. If you first connect to Suntrust Banks, THEN import history, this will switch it back to "Suntrust Bank" and mess you up.

Steps I found to work to load history and connect to Suntrust Banks:
    1. download history from suntrust.com, make sure to download Quicken format
    2. import history by double clicking the file you downloaded.
    3. DO not connect when prompted
    4. Keep importing files (Suntrust only downloads 3 months at a time)

After you have completed importing your history:
    1. Go to Account List, Click edit on the account created via the download
    2. Click Online Services tab, Online Setup > Set Up Now...
    3. We need to choose "Suntrust Banks", and not take default
    4. Click Advanced Setup
    5. Change "Suntrust Bank" to "Suntrust Banks"
    6. Next
    7. Express Web Connect
    8. Make sure you link to existing Suntrust Account you created from import history

It took me a lot of trial and error, deleted my account from Quicken many times and tried again.
