Simplifi is solely a cloud-based product and is completely independent of Quicken or the need to have a primary desktop file. This product is now available and being offered to Users in waves. See https://community.quicken.com/discussion/comment/20042026/#Comment_20042026 for more info

Quicken for the Web has now been released (Oct 8, 2018) but it only parallels the features available in Quicken Mobile, which only gives visibility and access to transactions for cash, credit card, and bank accounts, summary data of investments, and access to budgets.

But some users would like to be able to use Quicken Online via a web browser, with all the functionality of the Quicken desktop version.

This IDEA thread is for an expansion of the web browser version that does not need and is completely independent of a desktop version.

If you are looking for a web version that still syncs to the desktop version, DO NOT vote here. Instead, go here:
Full Featured Version of Quicken Online for the Web (expansion of current version)

If you find this feature helpful, click the little grey triangle under the VOTE count in the blue banner below, so your vote will count for THIS feature and increase its visibility to the developers by seeking to have the features you need or desire end up in the latest version (it may take a few seconds for your vote to register).

Would like to have this.  Ability to do Bill Pay with Mobile and/or Web would be amazing.

I recommend that you create an IDEA thread just for that, to draw attention to that specific feature. Then other users can add their vote to it.

I would love to Quicken but the problem is I have to be at one computer to use it. I would like to be able to access Quicken at work and at home. Is Quicken looking into having an online version?

Actually, there is already an IDEA request for QMobile. you can add your VOTE for
    Bill Pay through Mobile App.

First, click on the underlined link above to go there, then click VOTE at the top of THAT page, so your will vote count for THIS feature and increase its visibility to the developers by seeking to have the features you need or desire end up in the latest version.

While you are at it, you may want to add your VOTE to related IDEAS for Quicken Mobile by following the simple steps found here on the List of Requests for Quicken Mobile Features.

    Your VOTES matter!

Chromebook computers are getting more popular.  When will Quicken be available for Chromebook?  Or web-based?

That's not the direction Quicken seems to be moving in, although of course we don't know the company's long-term plans. Just recently, Quicken came out with a web-based interface that lets you access some (but not all) your financial data if you choose to store it in the cloud. But it still requires a PC or Mac for your primary data file that the cloud service syncs to.

There are a significant number of Quicken users who don't want all their financial data, including the passwords to their accounts, stored online. Although Quicken has never suffered a significant data breach, it's happened to so many top-line companies that a lot of users want to keep all their data on a local computer and not in the cloud.

Making a version of Quicken that works solely in the cloud and has the functionality of Windows or Mac desktop versions would require a massive effort to re-write Quicken, which is engineered for a single user on a local desktop. Also, they'd be going up against existing web-based products like Mint, which are free, and I'm not sure Quicken would be able to command their premium pricing for a web-based product that offers a little more than Mint.

I'm not saying it can't or won't happen, but for the reasons above and Quicken's recent moves, it doesn't seem like a fully web-based version is coming soon.

Thanks for your clear reply, but I don't like what Quicken is doing, so I can't select "Like".

I am a sole proprietor with a couple of rental properties on the side. Quicken Home and Business is the ideal software for me, but it is Windows only and the online edition doesn't offer what I need. I'm not buying a windows computer just to do my accounting. If they could get with the program and make everything cloud based SAAS, I would be glad to give them my $100/year for life. As it is, I am using QuickBooks Online for $60 a *month* and it still doesn't offer me the features that I need.

Well this is awkward.  I really want to see and support a version of Quicken that I can access across different devices.  But I don't see the place to vote or follow at the top of this page.  I have two businesses and am very mobile.  I have a computer at my office and well as my house and use quicken on both and need access to the same accounts from both these devices. It's been a struggle to do this.  Everything else is migrating to the cloud.  I would have thought Quicken would already be there and allow users to work on their accounts from multiple devices.  So yes, please.

The transition to this new site is still going through growing pains... time will tell how well the IDEA VOTING gets back up and running. Stay tuned.

IMHO, your business might be much better served by a version of Quickbooks from Intuit that supports "online on the web" and shared multi-user access so that you can be on the road, entering data, while somebody else can be working from home or your office computer at the same time.
Quicken is just not designed for that. And I doubt that it ever will be.

FYI, take a look at Simplifi by Quicken...an independent product not "related" to Quicken (and currently does not have a migration path from Quicken desktop):
