New Category not appearing in Reports

I created a new Expense Category. When I run my usual actual vs. budget report, I check the box to include the new category, include budgeted and non-budgeted items. Still the transactions do not appear.

    Have you (accidentally) marked the new category as "Hidden"?
    Can you show us the new entry as it appears in Tools / Category List?
    You can capture a screen image snapshot and drag it into your reply or attach it as a file to your reply.

    thanks very much. sort of like that. I found another similar post. what I had to do was make the new category "unhidden" in the Budget section. then it appeared on my reports.
