Quicken creates an undeletable account "ACCT_7e9" after File Validate and Repair

I performed a Validate and Repair on my file. Quicken created an account, "ACCT_7e9", with zero balance. This account can't be deleted and the Edit Account option does not open any window.

Which Quicken version are you running on?This appears to me as if it's an old problem, from a couple of years ago, often discussed here ...

Thanks for the link, but did not work. There are no transactions in the account and there is no way to pull-up the Edit Account Details to delete the account.
I'm using the latest Windows Build: 23.170 -
Sometimes if you create a manual transfer from a spending account to the Temp account, you can use the Go to Transfer function to access the temp account register.
1. create a transfer of $1 from a spending account to the temp account by typing [ACCT_7e9] in the Category field of the spending account. Save transaction.
2. right-click on the transfer transaction and select Go to Transfer.
3. That should take you to the temp account register where you can use the gear icon in the upper right corner to access Account Details. From there you can delete the account.
4. Return to the spending register and delete the $1 transaction.0 -
This does not work. I can get to the register for the temp account, I can click on the gear icon and get the "Edit Account Details" pull-down, but when I select on it nothing happens.
I can hide the account in the category list and even, seemingly, delete it from there, but it still shows up in the Accounts List.0 -
Have you tried super-validate by holding Ctrl + Shift keys before clicking Validate?
There is also the damaged data file guidance from the Quicken Knowledge Base-

I did both the validate and Super-validate. The validation process is what created this account, but I can't delete, or even hide, the account.0

You might try reverting to a backup file from before your validation.
If that does not work contact support. Your data file may have irreparable corruption. As a last resort you could try the Artic Hare Sledgehammer.
