Home Quicken for Windows Installing and Updating (Windows)

Where do I find my customer number in Quicken 2000?

Hi, I've transferred my long standing and reliable Quicken 2000 to my new PC but the new install is asking for my customer number. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks

    Hi @GrahamJohn ,

This is Year 2019, going on 2020. It was / is up to you to save that information, because you purchased 2000, when Intuit owned the product. That information online is no longer available online.

Have you checked About Quicken on your old Computer?

You need to start over, if you were to upgrade to the latest version, with a new Quicken data File.

I have a CD for Quicken 2001 deluxe, not installed. I see no number.
  • Hi thecreator, thanks for your comments, I know, should have kept the customer handy number, although I don't recall needing it last time I migrated the program to a new PC.

Have had a good look at the copy on my old computer and cannot see where it might be. Not enough of a PC expert to know if it's in a file somewhere. Didn't really want to lose all my household records.

Am trawling through the files on each PC to see if I can find anything.

    Thanks again.

Quicken 2000?  That is really old.

You should at least try to convert to the 2013 version since you don’t use any online services or download transactions now. Starting in 2014 they instituted an ID password to get into your own data. I’m staying on 2013.

2013 should run on Windows 10.  You can download 2013 for free (I think it's the Deluxe version) using this how to convert article.  It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009.

If your version is 2003 or earlier you will need to first convert to 2004.  Then convert to 2013.  Read that whole article on converting.

And FYI - If your Quicken was before 2010 you should have several files making up the data.

The main data file ends in .QDF.  All Quicken versions prior to QW2010 store your data in a series of files all sharing the same filename but with different extensions like  - .QDF .IDX, .QEL, .QPH  and all 4 of those files were rolled into a single-file .QDF starting in 2010.

  • Thanks volvogirl for your help. I am using a UK version of Q2000 deluxe which has been running fine on Win10 on a previous PC and only seems to be missing the customer number to work fine.

I've had a good look at your suggestions and they are probably beyond my capability especially as early versions aren't supported. I had found quicken.ini with a customer number but it's not working. Looks like I'll have to start anew!

Thanks so much for your suggestions .
