    Have you tried restarting your computer? If so, what happens when you try to start Quicken? Try holding the Ctrl key down and starting Quicken.

    Since we are not looking over your shoulder.... you need to help us with some details.
    Is this a new problem, or are you a new user after a recent install or upgrade ?
    What happens when you click on the Quicken icon ?

  • I've been gone for 10 days and Quicken won't open on my PC. I'm trying to sync Wells Fargo. The program won't open. It appears and then closes.
  • I have not renewed my subscription. Is that the problem? This is very frustrating.

    The status of your Quicken subscription or any other older versions
    does not make it - not start -
    SO.... not related to your problem -
    To view your status - you can log into - Quicken.com -
    with your Quicken User ID / password
    and view your current version and status inforrmation

    try this....
    Hold the CTRL key - and double click on the Quicken desktop icon.
    This should open Quicken BUT without opening the last used Quicken data file.
    If Quicken opens.... Great - it's not the Quicken program, but maybe the data file.
    You should then be able to .... File --> Open -->

    I am having the same problem. I've tried holding the CTRL key and double clicking on the Quicken icon, but it shows the icon and then closes. I think I caused it. I had a pop-up to update the software. I let it start, and then realized I needed to do something else, so I stopped it. Haven't been able to open Quicken since. I have a back-up, but it won't open either. I'm becoming desperate. My life is on Quicken, unfortunately. Help please.

    OK.... go to log into your Quicken.com account -
    Scroll down - and download and INSTALL the latest - Quicken for Windows -

    The data is in the QDF data file - NOT embedded in the program.
    Quicken is like MS Word or MS Excel - all the data is saved in a "file" -

    Didn't you have the old install CD or a copy of the downloaded install file ?
    You purchsed the highest version of Quicken - $99 - for Home & Business ?
    Not sure we got all the facts for your situatiopn - there are 2 folks in this discussion.
    But I guess you are up and running....

    I have tried all the suggestion to try to open Quicken on my desktop. I can not get through to customer support. Why am I paying for something I can't use? I am beyond frustrated. What now? It won't open after today's attempted update.

    The message I'm getting is this: "unable to initialize Quicken run-time components" I did restart & same message (twice)/

    Do I need to uninstall & start again. Hope not. Last backup I did was in December, 2019......
