Change the way we can sort the account list (+5 Merged Votes)

Other than to alphabetize, which makes no sense to me, the only way to sort the order of accounts in the account list or in the sidebar is with the up and down arrows, one line at a time. There should be a way to drag accounts to the desired order. I've been a Quicken user for 20 years; I have a lot of accounts. The current method is so tedious, it's almost impractical.

A common suggestion to make the alphabetize option work is prepend a string to the front of each account name - sort of like accountants do as account numbers. Use A, B, C, 1001, 1002, 2003, or some other plan. Those you want forced to the bottom get ZZZ, or 999, or similar.0

@Jeff Nicoll,
I like your "drag &drop" suggestion as I too have struggled with the arrows many, many times.Quicken Home, Business & Rental Property - Windows 10-Home Version

Drag and Drop is the best solution. The up and down arrows make it much harder than it needs to be.3

I agree drag'n'drop would be much easier. But really, how often do you need to re-order the account bar? The only time I need to do this is when I add a new account, which is almost never.

I do it enough to get aggravated every time I have to. It's such an archaic interface design.3

How can I organize my account according to what I want? currently they are separated by type, Checking, saving, etc. but I am managing numerous checking account and would like to sort them differently. I don't want to for them by number.
I called they suggested using number or put in a complaint so they can get if fixed in 20 years.0 -
When I add a new account, it shows up at the end of the list. The process to move it up the list to its desired spot is very cumbersome...clicking an up-arrow that jumps up and down in the left margin. How about changing to a modern click-hold-and-drag operation (say, like Quickbooks does for accounts)? We have over 40 credit cards in our extended family and adding a new one is an exercise in patience and frustration. Thanks.3

It is so simple to do it - provide the option to sort the accounts list - I have many accounts and add or delete accounts often - allowing sort by several fields is something simple - quicken should provide this basic functionality. Or drag and drop - but not the primitive slow way permitted now.2

My biggest issue is this - Why does Quicken Web app sort Investments by Account type (Brokerage/Retirement) while Quicken Desktop sorts by the "Tax Deferred: yes or no setting. Does not make sense why they would use different sort methods under Investments Tab. I realize that I made a mistake early and set up several Tax Deferred Retirement accounts up as Brokerage accounts but now I am penalized because the Web version is putting my Retirement accounts under Brokerage Accounts (considered non-retirement assets)...But Quicken desktop sorts by Tax Deferred and has all my Non-retirement assets(non-tax differed) above the line and Retirement (Tax deferred) below the line. I have been using Quicken Desktop for over 20 years now. Do something to fix this please. Drag n Drop feature or ability to change the Account Type( never happen and not I am not changing mine by setting up a new account), or Make it sort by Tax Deferrred Setting. Willing to talk more on this subject if you want to brainstorm. Thanks - Bob0

This is a great idea. I was having the same issue. Now I'm seeing that the accounts can NOT be reordered online.1

This suggestion has been made many times in the past. I believe the current one is

It is also an item on this month’s survey.1

Is there a way to "subscribe" or be notified when these monthly surveys are available?0

In addition to following the announcement category, I would also recommend following our Social Channels, we post an announcement on Facebook and Twitter when the monthly survey is available.Facebook - https://facebook.com/OfficialQuickenCare

Hope this helps,

Completely agree... need "drag and drop"!0

One of the Quicken pain points is the difficulty of rearranging the Account List.
My account list has many dozens of accounts and when I add a new one I have to press an arrow icon on the screen to move it up and down. It's a kludgy and worse than antiquated process. Can you make it auto sortable? Can you make it drag and drop sortable? Anything would be better than the way it is now.0 -
I'll settle for a resort utility, but drag and drop would be better0

very cumbersome with the up arrow on the left!
it would be so much more elegant to have drag and drop.
thank you0
