Upgrade/Update from 2017 to 2020

Have Quicken 2017 on my computer. Just bought Quicken 2020 from Amazon. Have an activation code. But have no idea what i'm supposed to install the new Quicken?

when I go here: https://www.quicken.com/activate it asks for a choice. so I thought it made sense to choose "Renew/change membership" - but I can't follow the instructions there. This doesn't exist, "Select ‘Help’ and from the menu select ‘Enter Activation Code’ … to continue."

How do Upgrade from 2017 to 2020? And why on earth is this not more clear? It really should not be this confusing. Thanks for any help.

    When you purchased from Amazon.com, you are purchasing the Activation Code. You need to go to https://www.quicken.com/activate and choose

    I'm a new quicken member.

    Especially when you are upgrading from Quicken 2017. You are purchasing a New Quicken Membership. It is not an Upgrade. Yes, it is an Upgrade to Quicken 2017, but not to Quicken Subscription. It is a New Membership.

    You need to install the Quicken program, from I'm a new quicken member.

    Once installed and you signed into your Quicken User ID and password for your Quicken Data File, you are presented with an Activation Window,

    Keep your Browser open and go to:  https://www.quicken.com/ Click Sign in and click My Account.

    When you don't see Download Quicken section, leave the Browser open and don't close it.

    Open a new Browser Tab and go to Amazon.com and sign in. Go to your Orders and find your purchase of Quicken. Go to the Software Download section and copy the Activation Code, only, one part at a time. Then paste it into Quicken. Repeat for the next sections. When done, click Activate Membership

    Once Activated, you are fine. Go back to the Browser and look at your Account and see Download Quicken. If you are using a File Password, you need to Download Quicken from your Account, because of a bug in the Activation Server.

    The Activation Code, is not used again and can't be reused.

    Thanks. The prior poster helped me.

    Just saying to Quicken that as a 10 year user, it was not intuitive to me to be "purchasing a New Quicken Membership." I think it could be clearer during the purchase process and on the page that gave the three choices.
