One thing that I've found really handy is every time I do a version update I do a "copy file and include the version number into the new file name Like "V32.12". This helps to know what version is used, on what transactions, and when it was applied. Every time I do a backup, I can see where a new version was started.
Something else I do (I do not use Quicken's reconcile function) is at the month ending closing date I copy the balance  from my FI month ending statement, and enter it in the memo field of the last transaction for that month in my register for that account. Then if I end up with a online balance that doesn't match my ending balance I can find the discrepancy by how much, and when it occurred, making it easier to backtrack into my bank statements. This way all I have to do is go to last transaction for the month of March go to memo or notes field and I enter DT20210331 $1234.56. that can be used to know the statement ending balance and what the final balance should before that month in your register.
