More Advanced Renaming and QuickFill Rules (Q Mac)

I think it would be really awesome if Quicken implemented more advanced renaming rules to include things like if, and, or statements. For example I buy a lot of repeat things from Amazon that are often categorized differently but cost the same each month. It would be amazing if I could create a rule that said, if Payee contains <keywords (current functionality) AND the amount equals a certain value then rename Payee and Categorize the transaction. There's a lot of core functionality missing from the mac side of Quicken but this would definitely be on my wish list

I think adding more options to Renaming Rules and QuickFill rules would be very beneficial. Questions from users looking for this type of functionality have come up in many other threads than this one.

The developers obviously want to not make it overwhelming to users, so it's not like we could have full-fledged regular expressions and GREP syntax, but adding some easy-to-understand options, such as a second criterion and a choice of AND, OR or NOT between them would make the rules much more powerful without too much added complexity for users.

I agree that more renaming options are needed. I have a monthly transaction that always begins with "Adv Fee" and then the beginning and end dates of the month. E.g. "Adv Fee 03/01-03/31" I would like these transactions to always be assigned the category "Investment Expense:Fees" Since the payee is always different, I have to manually assign the category each month. I would like to be able to specify that if the payee contains "Adv Fee" then assign the category.

As I mentioned in the other thread you posted in, this is exactly what Renaming Rules exist to solve. Create a Renaming Rule for "Adv Fee" like this:

Set the Payee name to the whatever Payee name is appropriate. Then all your transactions which contain "Adv Fee" will be renamed to the Payee name you assigned. Then create a QuickFill Rule for that Payee with the category you want. Voila! ;)
