Enter transaction manually vs download transaction

I've just switched from Q2007 to current Quicken. I was accustomed to entering all transactions manually and I'm not out of the habit yet, although I'm also downloading. I make an on-line credit card purchase and enter it in Q. A day or three later, I download transactions from the bank, duplicates of the now-completed transaction, usually with more characters, all caps etc. than I prefer. My wish is that Quicken would compare amounts of manually-entered and downloaded transactions and ask me if the two transactions are the same and which do I wish to keep. I'm pretty sure that's too much to ask of a still-developing app for a somewhat spoiled user.

Quicken will usually do a good job of matching the downloaded transactions to the manually entered ones (that's how I do all of mine). One reason it may fail is if it's been too many days.
That said, if a match fails, you can manually match by dragging one transaction on top of the other. Quicken will learn from this and improve the matching going forward.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s5
