Which password? Quicken ID password, Quicken data file password, transaction password?

FYI, I do not keep any data online, nor do I use the mobile feature. All data is kept locally.

Do you have an active Internet connection?

Yes, I have an "always on" xfinity internet connection. I have used Quicken over MANY years. This issue just popped up 2-3 weeks ago. I have never had this issue previously.

Do you have a password on your Quicken data file? If so, it's a bug in Quicken.

Here is the Password ID Request that I am receiving

    Hi @SrTrekker ,

That is a normal Quicken ID and password window. Enter your password and click Sign In. That Window pops up, at least twice a month, or more often, if you have more than one Data File. Or when you restore a data file, sometimes.

I would be happy if it were twice a month. However, it can be closer to daily, or sometimes several times per day. FYI, I have only one data file, and I leave the application open.

What happens if you close Quicken and re-open Quicken when necessary? How are you connected to the Internet? Straight through, using a Hardware Firewall like a Router? VPN?

First, let me say that the prompt for Quicken ID normally (abnormally lately) appears with an update request. With the program having been open overnight, 15 minutes ago, I went to update all, and I was asked for the Quicken ID. In response to your request, I shutdown the application. Upon opening, I was prompted for the file password, and, when I directed an update, I was asked for the vault password ... all normal. On this "opening" and update request, I was NOT asked for the Quicken ID. (... like it has behaved for the last 20 years.) The new behavior acts like there is a timer, i.e., after so much elapsed time, the update requires a Quicken ID. Very strange. I am connected through an "always on" Xfinity connection, through a firewall that has been operational for 3 years.

Try doing a Fresh Reinstall of Quicken and see what happens with this reinstall.

    Use this procedure:  https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7844658/installing-reinstalling-windows-quicken-subscription-editions

Read the procedure before proceeding, because this is a Clean reinstall. Nobody helped me, so this procedure I use, I created and it works.

But, if unsure, create an image of your operating system, with a program like Acronis True Image to fall back on. https://www.acronis.com/en-us/personal/computer-backup/
    before you begin.

This appears not to be the same problem for two reasons. 1) I NEVER see the Q ID authentication window while entering the file password, and 2) while the file is open, and I go to update, e.g., even a minimal action like updating quotes, the Q ID authentication window will appear. It looks like Q may have installed a timer to establish a max time between re-authentication to Q.

Have you tried signing out of your Quicken ID and back in? Just as a test, you could try removing your Quicken data file password.
