Using Quicken Deluxe 2020 on MacOS 10.12.6

My understanding is that the February 2021 release of Quicken will not run on my dinosaur machine (MacOS 10.12.6). Can I keep running Quicken Deluxe 2020 and just forgo getting transaction downloads from my brokerage account? Until I update my hardware, that's what I'd like to do.

What the Quicken Mac product manager has said is that Quicken 5.18.x will be the last releases available to people running an operating system prior to High Sierra (10.13). Quicken 5.18.x will continue to work; you just won't be able to download upgrades. How this will work in practice is nothing anyone here can comment on, because it's the first time since subscriptions began that Quicken has implemented such a procedure.

In theory, Quicken 5.18 will continue to work for… awhile. Eventually, some update to the download servers or services will break something if you aren't running a newer version of Quicken Mac, but I don't think anyone can predict whether that will occur in a month or 6 months or 18 months.

That said, I believe Macs which can run Sierra can also run High Sierra. So you might want to consider that minor operating system upgrade, unless you have some other software which absolutely won't run on High Sierra. (This Apple page details which Macs can run High Sierra, which appears to be identical to the Macs which can run Sierra.) That page also has the link to download the High Sierra installer
