Securities in 1 Step Vanguard download not being recognized

Many, but not all, of the newer securities listed in my Vanguard accounts are not properly identified when updating from Vanguard. They are listed as "Unspecified" and after I accept them, I have to lookup the transaction on the Vanguard website, and then edit it in Quicken to correct it.

I have looked at the Quicken Security List, and these securities have a name and symbol, but they do not have a CUSIP_ID and they are not marked as being matched with an online security. I have talked with Quicken Support people on multiple occassions and they have not found a way to link these securities to my Vanguard account or to put CUSIP_ID# on them.

The only thing they have suggested is that I delete all transactions for these securities, then delete the account and then try reimporting them. This will require a lot of work on my part and I will lose a lot of my history. Isn't there some other way of reinitializing these securities, so I would not have to redo everything that is already in there.

Also when working with a Vanguard WebConnect specialist, I created a new Quicken File, specified Vanguard as my brokerage and imported the last eighteen months of data. When doing that all of the securities in the security list were properly initialized with CUSIP_ID#s and matched to online securities, and no transactions came across linked to Unspecified securities.

    I have problem with updating values of options in my Fidelity accounts. I have updated Q and patch to latest 12/2020. Why isn't Q able to value my brokerage account option securities?

    Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community to report this issue, although I apologize that you have not received a response.

     Often, if something works as expected in a test file but not the original file that is an indication that the issue is within the file itself.

    When did this issue occur? Have you attempted to restore a backup from prior to the issue occurring and attempting to update the restored file?

    I have similar issues with Vanguard. I get OL-293A indicating unrecognized information received for my 3 Vanguard accounts. The workaround has been to use the try again button and the accounts process correctly. Is this being investigated?

    @jerry8kogan - It's likely that some of your existing securities have been improperly linked to the ones at issue.  This usually happens when the first transaction of a new security is downloaded and Quicken prompts to ask if it is the same as another security you already have.  It's easy to click Yes by mistake.

    It requires a little detective work but you need to find the improperly linked securities and uncheck their "Matched with online security" boxes; then run OSU again.  You will be able to match them up with the correct security or establish a new one at that point.

    Sometimes if you look at Holdings in Online Center and double-click on the security you can see an indication of the link, usually another name in parentheses follows the primary name.  Otherwise, uncheck the "Match" box in all securities ever held in the problem account. Then carefully link them again during your next OSU.
