Direct Connect. And I'm also using two different logons for my two different Chase accounts, and getting the OL-294-A error trying to reconnect. Haven't tried EWC.

I gave up waiting for this to be fixed and downloaded the QFX file from the Chase website.
  • Add me to the list. OL-294-A for two chase logons since Saturday.
  • Error OL-297-A started on 12/11. Haven’t been able to get a Quicken internet connection with Chase to download transactions. Can go online directly to access Chase. This is 3 days now! No VPN.

Similar to above post, I have accounts at Chase using two different ID/Passcode combinations. The accounts that are updated using EWC (Express Web Connect) are updated. Whereas, the accounts using DC (Direct Connect) are not updated and receive the OL-294-A error and OL-293-A. Last successful update of the accounts was December 12.
    On Quicken version R30.14.

Deactivated/reactivated Online Services and Chase worked fine using DC.

I am also having this issue. I have tried to reset the accounts. I saw a couple of suggestions to deactivate the accounts. Wouldn't that delete all my data?
  • I am receiving the OL 297 A error. It started yesterday, and I'm still seeing it today. Much like others on this thread, my other accounts are updating just fine, so I know it's not an internet issue.

I have not been able to connect to Chase all morning. OL-297-A error. All other accounts and internet fine. I was able to log in to Chase via the Internet. Anyone else seeing problems?

I forgot to mention, I did an account Reset which completed successfully but still getting OL-297-A errors.

Tried this but then got a "Sorry. We encountered an error. (It's not your fault.) Quicken is having trouble connecting to Chase."

That is the clearest error message I've seen so far (better to know it's not me and instead somewhere between Quicken and the bank). Just giving us "Error OL-29x" is useless to most people.

Would be good if Quicken developed an "alert subscription" (via text or e-mail) so you can be made aware of when the issues are resolved and try again. If the postal service, UPS, and FedEx can let you know when your packages arrived, this should be a no brainer.

No, it has no effect on your data.   However, deactivating and reactivating did not work for me.  I got a different error after trying that.

How does one deactivate and reactivate?

I too have been getting the OL-294-A with Chase since Saturday. This is ridiculous. Last week it was Merrill Lynch having issues.

Deactivating and reactivating did not work. Tried it several times and during the process Quicken spun up all kinds of message windows. So, it's still broke.

I am now getting error code OL-293-A (it was 294) on my Chase accounts, and also now getting an OL-301-A error on my Schwab account.

Two logins with Chase. 294 error on one 297error on the other. Tried to reset and no help/.
  • FYI... I was able to resolve by deactivating and reactivating the online services for my accounts. Hopefully this sticks...
  • Just got OL-297-A on Chase. When will there be a fix to this?

Quicken has added this to their Alerts and Known Product Issues community board.

    the text is:

We are receiving reports of Quicken for Windows and Mac users receiving a OL-294/293/297 error when attempting to add/update accounts and/or send bill payment transaction instructions.
We have opened an escalation with our Service Providers and are working to restore connections as quickly as possible.

Did that...and am now alerted with all the continuing complaints from other users. They should open a "locked" thread that can be bookmarked by customers but only edited by Support.

Worked for me last night at about 11PM eastern. Pulled down all available transactions. This morning, I again got OL 294, then OL 293. They must still be mucking around in their systems.

  • Just deactivated and reactivated and it will now update by EWC and not direct.

Chase accounts are still not updating properly for me. I agree with @Chris_QPW that waiting is the only "fix" for this. Since I like to stay up to date during the wait, I simply went to the Chase website for all of the accounts I track and did a Web Connect download from each account's transaction page. For those of you who haven't done this, it's possible that if you do the same, this may download duplicates of transactions that have previously been downloaded via one step update and these may be shown as new if such transactions have been previously reconciled. All that is necessary is for those duplicates to be deleted in the downloaded transactions window rather than accepted. For me, following this strategy until the server problem is resolved at its source allows me to stay up to date during the wait. By the way, deactivating online services and trying to reactivate will also not work. I tried it with my least-used Chase account just now. The deactivation went fine, but reactivation failed, returning an error message that I believe is related to the same server outage that caused the original one step update errors.

The article referenced by Quicken_tyka does not help. Resetting Chase account in Quicken also returns a server error. It can't be done.

I called Chase today, and they told me that this is a Quicken server error, not a Chase error. I can access my Chase accounts via mobile, and via the web browser which confirms it.

"If the issue is not resolved after following the steps above, you will need to contact your financial institution to resolve this issue. Quicken does not have access to the financial institution's servers to correct the problem. This may require you ask to speak with an online services specialist that handles transaction download issues at the financial institution. If your financial institution states they can't assist, an escalation with the financial institution may be necessary. "

This is unfortunately, just buck passing. It's a Quicken error. And an annoying one that tends to crop up with various financial institutions from time to time.

This why waiting is the solution, not deactivating/reactivating your accounts is the proper course of action.  And as @ronaldmcohen said, if you really need to get your transactions then the best thing to do is log into the website and download/import a Web Connect/.QFX file.
