Using Quicken 2017 on Windows 10 locally

I recently upgraded to a new pc with Windows 10. I've installed Quicken 2017 from CD that I purchased in April 2020. I've backed up my data file from a Windows 8 laptop and uploaded it to One Drive. I've downloaded it to my 'local' machine and when I open the file, it asks to set-up an online Quicken ID. I don't have and don't want to use my information online. It shows my file is open but I can't get to the main screen to enter transactions even after I enter my file password.

I've tried to set-up a Quicken ID to see if I can get past this screen but when I reset my password, it states invalid Quicken ID or password.

    I shouldn't need a login to use my Quicken 2017. It worked fine on Windows 8. How do I get past the 'Get Started' screen to my data file?

    You need the latest patch.  In the early patch versions it was the "Intuit Id", which of course doesn't work any more.  The later patches switch you to a Quicken Id, which still works.

    That is what you signed up for, and if Quicken Inc every goes out of business that will stop you from installing again. Quicken 2013 was the last version that didn't require some kind of login.

    Quicken support may just tell you to buy the latest version since you are running an unsupported version.  Make sure you have the latest patch version of R20.5 installed.

    Well the only other thing I can think of is a bad install.  First I would try installing the Mondo patch install, sometimes that helps.  You can also try this procedure (the second part that removes the folders) and then try a reinstall, which also sometimes cleans up such problem.

    One other thought with "log in problems" is if you are using a VPN try turning it off.

    And just so you know the requirement for a Quicken Id or even the subscription has nothing to do with where your data is stored.  The Quicken Id/account is about storing information like licensing and if used information about online features.  The "subscription" is how people pay for Quicken.

    I was able to log onto my Quicken ID after changing the password 3 different times. Once I 'completed' the login, I was successful in getting into my Quicken 2017 on my desktop with a local backup file. Not sure what caused the issues but it is resolved. Thanks for your help Chris!
