    Buy a new code.

You buy your appropriate version from a Quicken retailer and apply the activation code in the package from the Help menu selection in Quicken or you go to Quicken.com, login and purchase Quicken from them directly.  You will probably find a better price with the retailers.
The bargains that are available on Quicken.com are for new subscribers or subscribers whose subscription has been expired for more than 30 days.
Go for the best $/month price you can find from a reputable source.  Too good a deal is likely to be fraudulent.

Then we don't understand your question. A code is only valid for a fixed amount of time. It can't be "extended".

Why does a code ever expire?

Because that is the business model that Quicken has adopted.  Online features in Quicken only as long as you have a valid subscription (not expired).
When you purchase Quicken, it comes with a code that allows you to use the online features of Quicken for a given amount of time.
It is like the license plates on your car, you pay they registration fee and they give you stickers that are good for a certain length of time.

Now you have finally provided enough information to understand what you were asking.
Contact Quicken Support , we are just users and can NOT help you.
