Snap to grid

We got a new, large wide-screen monitor and enjoy having windows open side to side. This is especially helpful when using quicken along with our other financial spreadsheets and accounts. Most of our other software applications support snap to grid allowing the user to easily put a window in a designated location. When we couldn't get this to work for Quicken we chatted with support and were told that "snap to grid" is not supported. This would be a nice feature allowing the Quicken Window to be placed in a half screen without needing to adjust size and position.

Snap to Grid works just fine, provided that you actually have the "pixels" to do it.

Quicken has the display requirements of 1024x768 at 100% Windows scaling using "normal fonts".  Or with "Large fonts" 1280x1024 at 100% Windows scaling.

You can get away with a bit smaller on the horizontal, but not by much.

You might have a large wide screen, but I will bet that your settings mean that half your screen width is doesn't give Quicken enough pixels to display all the information it needs to.

Note that any kind of scaling whether it be done by Windows (a number larger than 100% on the display settings) or by Quicken (using Large Fonts) means that you are using more than 1 pixel on the display go represent one in the programs/Quicken.

For instance if you set your Windows scaling to 200% that means you are using 2 pixels on the screen for even one in Quicken.

    Or by math:
The requirement without using Large Fonts becomes 1024 * 2 = 2048 x 768 * 2 = 1536.  and of course if you are trying to use only half the screen then you need to double again so that each side meets the requirement.

Hm... I'll look into that. Meanwhile, we can resize the window to look like your screen shot ... It just won't conveniently snap into the location like other windows do. When we contacted Quicken they said that it wasn't supported.

We are using 100% windows scaling and no large fonts. Monitor display settings set for 2560 x 1080. As I've mentioned it works fine when we adjust to half screen size. It just won't snap to grid like other apps do. Am I missing something?

How are you doing "snap to grid"?
I might be the  one missing something if I'm not doing the same exact operation you are.  I'm dragging the title bar of Quicken to the side of the screen and letting it snap into half the screen.

Yes, that is what we are trying. We have the screen set to offer two windows. Windows from other software works fine ... snap right in. Only Quicken does not snap ... we have to manually adjust the size of the window. Have tried it on two separate computer/monitor set ups. When you try to drag a quicken window to a half screen the snap grid box does not even show. Chat with Quicken said it wasn't offered and that we should suggest it. I'm curious how it works for you. Maybe different display software ...

I also have a dual display setup (have Quicken on the left display), and nothing really special as far as graphics and such.  It is a bit tricky to snap to the right because that is the direction of my second monitor, but even that works.

Here is a video of it (link on OneDrive).  First with the dragging of the title bar and then using the Windows key and the arrow keys.
