Not the computer that your original Quicken was installed on.

I cannot open my Quicken 2010 as a message comes up as not the original computer Quicken was installed on, I have been using this computer for the last 4 to 5 years with no hassles.
It will not let me open Quicken. I go to the backup copies and it still gives me the same message.
Thanks Sylvia

    Hello @dessylvia

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community to ask your question, although I apologize that you have not received a response.

As the 2010 version is unsupported, there are no official steps or troubleshooting available for this program.

If you do not receive a response from another member, you may consider taking a look at upgrading to a new version of Quicken.

    Thank you,

You should at least try to convert to the 2013 version since you don’t use any online services or download transactions now. Starting in 2014 they instituted an ID password to get into your own data. I’m staying on 2013.

You can download 2013 Deluxe for free using this how to convert article.  It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009.

Thank you, I will try and see what I can do .
I am willing to go to the newer version if I can retrieve my data. Or would you recommend just going to the 2013 version. I don’t want to lose it all.

I have never heard of this exact error message before.  At times some people have reported that some versions won't install because they have "time limit" of like 10 years.  Given this is 2021 and you are talking about Quicken 2010, that might be what you are running into even though the error message is strange.

Any version of Quicken from 2010 onward is going to be able to read and convert your data file, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Yes that makes a big difference.  Australia has it's own version.

I had a feeling this was for a foreign version of Quicken.

Your choices are go back to Recon and pay for their new version or try to convert to Quicken Subscription (not Quicken 2013) based on this thread:
    https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7882337/several-queries-on-replacing-an-australian-version-with-quicken-deluxe-2020

Hmm on this thread, the person had success with Quicken 2013 US and Quicken 2010 AUS.  So certainly worth a try.

    Hi @dessylvia
I'm also in Australia but I have migrated to current Canadian version. The good news is you can migrate your existing data file across directly without exporting/importing. The software license you originally paid for is in fact expired at 10 years. Nothing to do with your computer - the error description is a furphy. Your license has run out no getting around that.

Are you using Quicken AU 2010 version or Quicken US version? There is almost no hope going to renew with Reckon Au as they are treating it like a cash cow with zero support. Better off migrating your data file over to US version. I did this last year and told everyone on the Reckon Forums about it then they deleted my posts! Such is the strategy of Reckon Au - Customer dis-service.

Anyway if you are on AU there is a fb page of AU users migrating over or you can PM me directly on the forum (through your profile I think). If you are already using QW 2010 US version you have saved a couple of steps. US/CA version is much cheaper also!
