Save a Custom date for Register

I'd like to be able to use and save a custom date for my registers and if I use 1/01/2016 to present, just have it stay until I change the custom date. Why is it necessary to put in that date every time I open my Quicken register? I guess they call that a placeholder. Sure would be nice!

When using the Dates range box to select the time period for the Register transactions you want to view, there are 11 selections including All Dates, This month, Last month, etc., and the last on the list is "Custom Date", which I would like propose a change to in the way it currently works. I'd prefer that it work like it does in Preferences >  Reports and Graphs, where the date you put in under "Custom Date" is a default that quicken keeps until you manually change it to a different date. As it is now if you make another selection, say last 30 days, then come back to Custom date, the date is lost and gone, at which point you need to reenter the date range again. How about keeping all the Custom Date fields consistent, by having them all be a  default to make it easier and quicker for the user.

Vote "Yes" for a default date range in Custom date selection in register custom date box so any date you want to use will be kept, without loosing it should you manually change to another (last year, last 30 days etc.) then go back to custom again! Keep that custom date forever until you change it!

I don't understand why you can't simply use FILE, "Set password to modify transactions".
Please explain, a bit more clearly, what you're proposing.

"Placeholder" has an entirely different meaning in Quicken.
OP has an existing idea thread on this. He wants to be able to change the register date filter at will but have Quicken remember, and revert to, his favorite date range at next usage.

Thanks Rocket! The placeholder would be the date I put into the custom date box!

What would be the correct word NotACPA?

This could be something like the default date range for Reports that you can set in Preferences, except it would be default date range for Register transactions.

We need to be able to save Custom Dates. This feature is essential for reports.

Why did you post more than once? Did you get an error message or something when you tried to post?

Also, for reports Quicken has a setting at Edit > Preferences >Reports and Graphs that lets you choose a default date range for reports from quite a wide range of selections. Does this meet your needs? If not please describe what you are looking for and give an example of how you would use it.
