Year end backup, copy,cutoff

At the end Of December I did a yearend qdf and started a new file with a new name with transactions from Jan 1. My year end copy continues to record my new year tranactions. I thought when I did a yearend cut off it would stop recording transactions after dec 31

There isn't anything that blocks a year end copy data file from including more transactions.  If you bring it up and update Quicken is certainly going to add transactions to it.

Not sure what you mean by update quicken. I just open the backup file and the transactions are there. How do i keep my last year transactions in their own file so i can go back and look at them without having this years transactions included?

By any chance is the data file connected to Quicken Mobile/Web?

Because that is the only other way than doing a One Setup Update that I can imagine that it might change.
