Why doesn't the "paid" icon at the bottom of the transactions page work.

There is an icon at the bottom of the account page for indicating when a transaction has been paid, but it doesn't work.

Have you selected a scheduled transaction (one with a clock icon in the Status column)? If not, the Paid icon (Mark as Paid) is not applicable and the icon will be grayed out.
If instead you're looking to mark a transaction as cleared or reconciled, then you need to click or option-click the checkbox in the Clr column.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s0
